02 LX470, CV doesn't sit properly in drive flange.

Pretty close to my wits end and could use a sanity check. Installing a new CV shaft on the driver's side, and the tip of the CV doesn't extend far enough to even think about putting the C clip on.

With the hub removed and out of the picture, CV installed fully in the spindle, the drive flange hard up against the end of the spindle:

That's as close as I can get it, with hammer claw or slide hammer. The only thing I can think is that the CV isn't completely inserted in the spindle - except it is. It slides in to a hard stop with no more room on the backside to slide further.

I took the entire knuckle off, measured the new CV against the old one, put it all back together, still won't seat fully. What am I missing?
 
OEM or aftermarket? I attempted to install one from Advance Auto and had a similar problem. Returned it then installed OEM which fit properly.
 
May be: Brass bushing, may not be fully seated. This happens if needle bearing not fully seated. You can pull axle out very hard, which should seat both.
You'll need to set up a strong puller.

May be: Seal in back of knuckle and or the one on the FDS, interference. They must seat properly.

Picture angle is not great, for seeing how seals seats. But notice, how knuckle seal is hidden by FDS seal. In your picture I see to much of knuckle seal.
