Pretty close to my wits end and could use a sanity check. Installing a new CV shaft on the driver's side, and the tip of the CV doesn't extend far enough to even think about putting the C clip on.
With the hub removed and out of the picture, CV installed fully in the spindle, the drive flange hard up against the end of the spindle:
That's as close as I can get it, with hammer claw or slide hammer. The only thing I can think is that the CV isn't completely inserted in the spindle - except it is. It slides in to a hard stop with no more room on the backside to slide further.
I took the entire knuckle off, measured the new CV against the old one, put it all back together, still won't seat fully. What am I missing?
