I was given this carb a few years ago by a local Mudder and since I'm planning to refresh mine, I thought I'd rebuild this one as well.

1. Date stamp and location of stamp makes me think it's got a born on date of October 2, 1980. Can someone confirm that?

2. None of the normal vacuum ports appear to be open (power valve on top is blocked) so I'm wondering if this is a non-USA carb

3. I'm running a 75-76 carb on my desmogged 77, so could I run this carb if I wanted? Would there be any difference in performance? Kinda thinking about having one jetted for higher altitude.

4. Fuel return is blocked on this one, can I open that up and tap it like my 75-76. Who could do that for me (if needed).

Not sure what you got but it looks like it was for a cruiser that could have AC, so 79-80 sounds about right, 81 went to same carb as a fj60(which I don't think it is)

May be wrong not a carb guru....

Kelly, was the one you got from me? If so, then it is a non-US carb from a 1979 Chilean FJ40.

Yep its yours, just wasn't gonna call you out. Just ordered kits from Kurt to refresh mine and to go through this one too. This one looks like it would set up differently than my 75-76. Just trying to ID the differences in case I want to run it, use it as a spare or set it up for use at the cabin (high altitude). I think I can figure out the vacuum connection differences. Looks like plumbing it for a fuel return line is the biggest change I need to figure out so its plug and play. I need to figure out how to tap the horn so my return line fittings would match up, or get a better understanding of how important a fuel return line is to begin with. Maybe I'd just block the return line if it wasn't in use.
