There was talk about seperating the tcase from the back of a trans. Sometimes they fall off, other times, they are stubborn the whole way.




This works EVERYTIME, without fail:

Looks like moss to me also....was dropped off at the shop last week....I am just the middle man. :)


FYI- Long 10mmx1.25 bolts are from mounting the alt on 2F engines...

Snap on puller bar and long pressure screw...

Only the tcase input gear and the PTO, as they ride on the trans output shaft.

thanx everyone for all the help. this wasnt my thread, but all have been patient with my asking questions.
this will be my first attempt at a tranny swap.....
wish me..........warmer weather :D
 
There could only be two gears on the shaft, and they can only be installed one way. :)

Also, you may want to keep an eye out for the short spacer on the shaft that sometimes stays on the shaft after the tcase is pulled off. It may be snug against the back of the transmission - at least it was on my stock 4 speed tranny.

Then there's the old quandry - does the open side of the tcase seal go towards tranny or towards the rear :^) Mine had the spring facing the front from the factory

There is no quandry- The spring goes towards the trans, period.
