700 mile round trip, 13 hrs.......quite pleased with the purchase, chassiss has 75K on it and is clean as can be....We swung by and picked up Jim Reiss and he went over and guided us to the location........ Harness has not been cut as the seller thought, there is one cluster of about 8 wires that are cut, but they only go to a relay bank on the drivers fender ...which he fetched from a pile over in the corner, along with a bunch of other stuff............the ABS module and master cylinder are both here...along with the hood struts and inner fenderwells.

BTW thanks to Gumby for PM'g the link to the auction to me......I owe ya a beer.

there are a couple of items I need to source to get it running...
1 Distributor
2 ECM, and if there is a short section of harness between the ECM and the engine harness??????

We discussed the FZJ55 or FZJ60 options on the trip home as I have either of those bods at the farm.................:D :D

You gotta go for the FZJ55. Paint it two tone with FZJ80 white in place of 55 white and another 80 color as the "color". Maybe even put some 80 series interior bits like seats and stuff in...that would be NIIIIICE.

Has it been done?

I really like the idea of being the first....... :D

There's a guy with a 1FZE in a pig, (and a UZ one too), but I haven't seen the whole thing done. The wheel base looks really close, although the width would be an issue. No worse than the Project X 45PU.

The FAQ suggests the wheel base of the 80 is 112 inches and the 55 is 106.
The width of the 80 is over 4 inches wider than the 55

Next time I'm in Bonham I'll be happy to let you spot me a Shiner Bock. As soon as I saw it I thought you'd have a use for it. :D

I can't tell from your pix, are you using the coils or leaf springs?
IF coils, I want more pix...

Butch

I went the simplest route. I am just SOA with leafs. I would like to have 4 linked but the project was starting to get out of hand. It would have been much easier to buy a wrecked 80 and have done a body swap. I also have the 80's heated seats for the interior. As well as the 100 series floor console to swap in.

Ryan.

It's just a matter of time before I do a FZJ55. The pieces just gotta fall into place. If it was summer, I would have driven down there to get it myself and stopped by DDs on the way back to pick up his driveline-less pig.

After putting 80 coils on a 40 frame, I would just use a 80 frame the next time, even if I had to chop 6 inches out of the middle.

In fact, if I had the money, I'd just pay you to do it for me. :D

I have never seen a pig body one an 80 running gear. It would be a lot of work, but if an FZJ45 can be done, so can a 55 :D :D :D

Ryan, that is very sweet. Butch, looks like you have quite the competition. I say go for it!

You might want to PM Kirk who has a now unused 1FZ sitting on his shop floor. I recall seeing the distributer sitting around someplace too.

Cheers.
