I got my NATO cans form Butch Lewis a couple of years ago at the Petaluma swap meet for $5 each. I bought 4. :D

The cans that Generator Joe, Expedition Exchange sell are Wedco cans.

I bought 2 from EE a few years ago and paid $50 each for them. Then the nozzles were another $15 each....

Plus shipping...

You can get the EXACT SAME wedco cans from Checker/Schucks/Kragen with the nozzle for $29.99....

Poser,

What is the major differences between blitz and NATO besides NATO being military and blitz being I guess a knock off?

I am no metal gas can expert. :D

yah they suck! you what all metal cans. full metal cans are illegal to sell in california, right?

Agreed

The blitz cans leak - therefore they suck :crybaby:

Blitz cans have the bottom crimped on, and a screw on nozzle.

The Nato' ones are 2 stamped halves that are welded together with a clamp on nozzle.

The Nato style cans leak too but not as bad as the blitz cans.

Gotcha.

Thank you for the clarification

Guess I need to buy a NATO can.... as mine is the screw on nozzle and will probably begin to leak soon.

My nato cans do not leak.

They are new, US MFG, and have the mini-nozzle attachment that works great too!

The donkey dick nozzle on the bitz can is a horrible excuse for a fuel conduit.

Cant buy those cans in CA anymore.....just those crappy ones that claim to be "no spill" nozzles. They have no air hole on the can so you can imagine how SLOW they pour. I found the nice metal cans at a military surplus store in CA, so try there.....only $25 each and $5 for the nice screw in bendable nozzle!

Hi All:

This link (previously posted) shows a NATO style "Jerry can" that is legal for sale, possesion, and use in the California Republik.

I've had/used both the "Blitz" gas can and the "Jerry" gas can - they both have their history in World War II.

Allied troops loved to use captured "Jerry" fuel cans during World War II. The German Army issue fuel containers were durable and space efficient, while the fuel containiers that the British Army used were bulky and prone to leakage.

The US "Blitz" can is simply a "piss-poor," re-engineered version of the original German designed and made fuel can. The "Blitz" can burps fuel fumes, while the "Jerry" cans are almost leak-proof!

Spend the money on the NATO issue "Jerry" cans - they are worth the $$. I bought my first set in 1997 from a Land Rover shop in Portland, OR. - the cans are 1960s MoD surplus!

Alan
