While my LX was in the body shop being repaired from my oops, I had them remove all of the external trim pieces. It was more difficult than they anticipated, but they got it done.

I did some research and decided to do LineX rather than Rhino, or the other roll on products. I'm very pleased with the results. :)

The color is 1A6, Moonglow Pearl. It is a little lighter than the stock LX trim.

The LineX has a kind of pebbly texture. It is very durable and hard. The Rhino lining had a very rubbery feel.

I removed the bumpers & sliders before I took it in. Saved a bit on labor, and have peace-of-mind that all is re-attached correctly.

Actually looks really good! I like the color contrast!

The dealer originally chromed 4 of the 5 wheels... it was cheaper to chrome the 5th than to buy new ones. Now they're all "shiny" to go with the panties! :)

No gold trim here!

Looks great! Moonglow Pearl rocks!

Hmm...weird color choice, but its your truck. I'm sure if you didn't like it the title would be "Oh god, the body shop screwed up!"

Anyways...what made you pick that color? When I see the pics, it looks like primer to me, like its unfinished, and between the Chrome, orange, dark green, light gray/blue, black, etc....it reminds me of those people with VWs and changing out the bodypanels for all different colored pieces from other cars.

Well, I certainly strongly disagree with CodyRx7, Hants, for what it's worth. I think it looks really excellent, and that colour will not show the dirt very much. Nice, unique and professional looking. I'm planning on doing the same with my truck as far as where to put the linex, but I have yet to decide on a colour for the lower section.

I was trying to match the charcoal gray of the OEM LX trim. Couldn't find the color code for it, and the closest I could find was the Moonglow.

It's lighter than I expected, but not unpleasant -- to a guy who has chrome wheels!

:flipoff2:

Hants,
nice work! Was it difficult removing the flares of the LX? Were most/all the retaining clips reusable if you wanted to put the flares back on?

(not you specificially, more like.. me! hehe)

Many survived. There are some brackets that have to be drilled out. The clips can probably be sourced from CruiserDan. The brackets would probably have to come from a Lexus dealer.

I had the body shop that was already working on my rig do it. It took them longer than "the book". I wasn't there to observe.

I did note several wear spots from the trim. It clearly moves around a bit. Of course, that's all under LineX now. :)

Insurance is a curious business. The quote to repair (replace) my driver's door and front driver's quarter panel was just under $4,000. I asked the repair shop what it would cost me to have them remove all of the trim, rather than replacing the door and quarter panel trim. They quoted me "about" $200, and noted that I would get a refund check from the insurance company (for not replacing the trim pieces).

After all was said and done, the insurance company sent me a check for $1,100 (for two trim pieces & installation)! The trim removal ended up being closer to $300. Even after the LineX, I still have cash in my pocket from my insurance company.

Looks good. I'd like to get my trailer done in that. :)
