Well, it is kinda outfitting and kinda 80 tech, because 'technically' the bumper was made for an 80.:D

Anyway, Luke Porter at 4x4 labs did this for me and worked around my 44 gallon Long Ranger tank. He had to work from pics on the internet and basically nailed it. A few minor adjustments and look at how it turned out!
He does wonders with metal.
The shocks on the swing arms are truly a great touch. They basically open themselves.
It is very stout, very compact as far as approach angle.
The ladder takes my 200lbs with ease and has strength for three more of me.
To put it in a nutshell, I am very satisfied. Highly recommended. :)

I'm SO glad I pulled the trigger on this..

Can you post pics of the underside? How was the install, did you do it yourself? I'm a little nervous about the install.

I guess I'm 12th in line or something, about a month out anyway.
 
Oooh i like the shock idea... might have to weld some onto the kaymar hehee

Im wondering how well the 'bolt on' tire carrier and ladder will stay in place on the swing outs after a few rough roads. That setup seems like it would wiggle side to side after a while. Top of the ladder not being connected to anything isnt going to help this problem either.

I will get some more pics up. The underside is very tight, looks great.

The install was definitely better left to Luke and his help. I watched, and could do it but it would be a "learning experience" for sure.

We knew there would be some adjustments as he was working around the tank so I just let him do it all.

The rear muffler / resonator thingy is on the floor of my truck.

Have not really dealt with it yet. Sounds pretty good actually.

Kinda throaty.

I will probably just find a matt black tip and bolt it on as I am not going to the Oakland Roadster Show with it. :D

I have a white 80 as well but not as clean:)
Luke bumper is the heat.
If I was not on the complete other side of the country I would be sporting his fine work. I bit the bullet and built one similar to his though no where near as clean and refined.

I purchased some DIY bumper parts from him, Now I just have to finish the thing.

I was at his shop last Monday and saw yours (TRU) in progress. It's looking really good, with a few refinements since the last time I got to see one being built. I think you will be extremely happy.

Luke did say something interesting, and that is he is considering making his bumper available as a precut kit. Then you have to do the time consuming part which is welding it together. Pretty cool.

We are the beta test dummies for the kits, have a pile of them on the way, including one for a 100!:eek: :D Will post pix of the builds.

Another cool thing about the kits is, shipping a bunch of steel plates is a bunch cheaper than a powder coated bumper.:D
 
Looks like Luke and Ken Hanna have gone the same route on controlling swing-outs. My Hanna (just on this past Friday) has the same gas strut set-up.
 
I have a gas strut on mine as well...I broke mine though :)

It is a PAIN IN THE ARSE to replace those damn things if you can't find the exact length...which of course I can't.

There was a weld that broke on an old tab to limit the swing...it broke off and the strut became the limiting arm....snap.
