I was looking at my FJ Cruiser wheels that I bought on ebay (pretty cheap) and decided to try these on several different crusiers. From what I calculated before getting them they would fit on 80 series, 7x series, 6x series, and even 4x series. They have a larger back space than is usually allowed on the 4x - 7x however it is a 17" wheel so it clears the tie rod end. I have tried these on my 42 series, 80 series, and 70 series. Here are some pics of them on my 70 series (with stock tires for now). I am planning on using these wheels for my 75 series p/u.

Cheers,

Michael

I can't wait to see what they look like with some 33" Truxus tires on them :D Too bad I have lockout hubs on this one, I guess I can't have everything.

Cheers,

For tires in the 17 inch .. I found at work we needed tough tires for gravel but 17 is a bad size for commercial tires. The tire companies have not fully caught up to the big threes switch to 17. But we found cooper tires to be pretty good.

The Cooper discover S/t is pretty tough and the cooper SST looks snarly.

You might have to search a bit for them, look under cooper discovery

80 series with FJ Wheels and 35" BFG's (HDJ80)

Someone asked to see the FJ wheels on an 80 series so here are some on my 96' HZJ80 with 35" BFG A/T's (no M/T anymore need the better fuel economy).

Cheers,

Michael

Not to my taste ,maybe on a jeep they would look ok or painted black.

I like the black rims on the FJ ,gives it some balls;)

Micheal,
those black rims on the FJLooser look very nice. are you impressed with the performance?

I took it out to Truckhaven to test out my new suspension kits several weeks ago and it did surprisingly better than I thought it would. I was with a bunch of jeep guys (aobut 20) and at first they were telling me stories of how they some one stuck or had to help get one out at one point, but by the end of our run, They told me I made believers out of them :D

I took my FJ to a few places most of the Jeeps did not even want to go. I can say that the way the systems are wired VSC, ABS, A-Trac, Rear Locker in conjuction with Low range is messed up compared to the 100 series. You can not use the A-trac in any other range other than low range, however you canot use it if you are using the rear locker, oh and the ABS stays on in low range unless you turn on the rear locker, the VSC is turned off as soon as you lock it in high range (center diff lock). Needless to say I wheeled with the rear locker on almost all the time, when I tried it with the rear locker off, the ABS usually got in my way of wheeling.

The wheeling I did was very tight canyons with a lot of articulation.

Heres a few photos.

Michael

Wow, these black rims are nice (your FJ, too Michael).

Can you tell me the size of them?

EDIT:
I found the size (7.5x17).

The Tires are 33"x12.5x17 (actual height is 32.5")

If you are looking to buy some of the OEM Steel wheels. Rusty Wallace Toyota in NC sells them on ebay for $50.00 a wheel.

Michael

Michael,
The next time you have a wheel off the FJC, please measure the backspacing. I've asked about 3 or 4 times in the FJC section and either nobody knows the BS or nobody is paying attention to the question.

Does Rusty Wallace Toyota also sell alloy take-offs?

Thanks in advance.

No Worries,

I will measure them Tomorrow at my shop.

Michael, you mentioned better fuel economy with AT's. What exact difference in fuel economy did you see going with At's vs what you had before?

Factory Alloy FJ Cruiser Wheel Backspace is 4 7/8" BS the Wheel is 17" x 7 1/2"

Factory Alloy 80 Series Wheel Backspace is 4 1/2" BS the wheel is 16" x 6"

Factory Steel 40 series Wheel (old style with steel hub cap looms) is 3 1/2" BS the Wheel is 15" x 5 1/2" or 6" (depending on country/year)

Factory Steel Chrome 60 series / 70 series wheel is 3 1/2" BS the wheel is 15" x 6"

I have only seen steel take offs from Rusty Wallace Toyota, however I have seen several companies on ebay selling alloy takeoffs. I bought a set of 5 alloys with tires (8miles on 4, 1 with Zero miles) from a place up in LA and with shipping to my door (San diego) it was $900.00

Michael,
Thanks for the measurements. I mentioned in the thread in the FJC section that the 80-Series alloys (93-97) are 8" wide; not 6".

I'm sure that was just a typo.
