But I can tell you they would have the same profile as the alloy ones on my diesel 80 series, just in black and steel. I got rid of my FJ with the steel wheels a while ago so I can put them on and snap a few pics.

that is cool, I am going to run Toyota 17's of some sort on my 55 w/ 80 axles...

I think if you are going to run 80 series axles on the skinny 55 (leaving them stock width) I think you would really like the off-set that the FJ wheel will give you (tuck in the tire very nicely).

The original poster of the thread tlcruiserman stated that the 17" FJ take offs should clear the tie rod end on a 70 series (BJ71 in my case) but I have found that these take offs do hit the tie rod end. Do I need to go with wheel spacers now?

I’d say yes. They came on my 74 and had spacers on them. I’m now running the FJ Steelies and had to retain the spacers on this application as well. No issues whatsoever
