I did some scouting at Mahoney today around noon and found our spot.

Between the swimming pool and the theater there is a gigantic parking lot. Next door to the theater there is a playground. On the side of both the theater and the pool are restrooms. So... We'll be in the swimming pool parking lot on the theater end of it. Both the theater and the pool are closed next weekend, so we should have room to line up the trucks. I claim the spot under the tree - I want the shade to grill in. :D I plan to show up there sometime around 11:30 to set up.

This puts us close enough to the playground to release the kids and far enough away that we're not fighting for parking spots together. I want a picture of all 7 trucks lined up to post back to this thread. That includes that 4-Runner.

So far the list is:
Grench 4 people. Maybe 2 '96 FZJ80s Grey and Red.
BADM 4 people. LX450
Ivan80 1 person. FZJ80
JBOB56 2 people. 4 runner
Corn Man 3 people. LX450
JROB80 2 people. FZJ80

16 people and 7 trucks. Thats a good start.

You will all need Nebraska state park permits on your vehicles. The front gate will have a guy that will sell you a temporary permit if you don't want to spend the $$ on one.

I am bringing hot dogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles, paper plates, napkins, various sodas and bottled water - one ARB fridge full. If anyone else wants to bring a side item (chips? other?) you're welcome to. Post up here if/what you're bringing so we don't have 6 people bringing chips. Bringing something is entirely optional.

Thanks!

Grench

In case the above description wasn't quite clear:

I'll bring a bag of chips...

noon and where the big X is, it should make for a great day. My wife and I are planning to bring deviled eggs, fruit salad or some sort of dip thing. I told her that we can bring a mixture of all three, but not sure how well that will taste.

Break, break,

I not interested in the 1992 Cruiser, I am looking for something with the 4.5l 212 hp that the 1993-97s put out. I saw the 1993 here in town, but when I took it for a test drive I got too many red flags. I would rather spend more money on one that doesn’t look or drive like that one did. I do appreciate all the assistance and I look forward to seeing all the Cruisers.

I can bring some potatoe salad. Looks like we should have some decent weather 64 deg. and sunny!

It's turning into quite the spread. Bring lawn chairs if you want a place to sit other than your tailgate. With the potato salad and fruit salad coming out, someone bring forks too.

OK - We'll all keep our eyes open for them. I hadn't seen that 1993 personally, but now we know. I'm curious, though, what all was wrong on it?

Back in town from MO!!! Paper plates, forks, and a couple trash bags..... got em. Also plastic cups and juice for the kids. Mine don't do soda. Probably 3 different tailgate games.

Hey guys, some things came up for work and I am now stuck here in my home state of Texas. Unless the plan changes, (which I hope it does) I will be stuck down here on Saturday. I guess that I am out of the party this weekend. Sorry about that guys hope to meet you at the next party.

You're in Texas? Why would you be looking in NE for an 80 then? Nothing rusts in Texas - or almost nothing.

No problem on missing out - hopefully you'll have an 80 by the time we have another one of these.

The kids are looking forward to playing on the playground by the theater. My shopping is done and the sodas and water have been in the ARB for 24 hours chilling down.

See you all there!

Great time. Had 6 trucks there. Some pictures were taken. haven't seen them yet. Weather was resistant for about an hour, then beautiful. Kids were interested in the adjacent playground. the ladies didn't care much about the LC's either. I'm kind of picturing this as a dude-only thing. At least that was my take.

Grench cranked out some great dogs and soda. Everyone contributed something. Missed our TX/NE 4Skinner and our northern friends up in Norfolk. Grench and Iven80's rigs are far beyond the rest of ours. Great ideas passed around and even some test-driving. Late Summer run to Tuttle is being kicked around.

Pix anyone????

It was a great time I wish I didn't have to leave when I did. I have to thank Grench for first of all scouting this all out and grilling but most of all letting me and the :princess: take his rig out with the 2.5 lift I think I have her convinced to get my lift next time we are out in CO.

It was great meeting everyone and I am looking forward to getting together again! I took a pic I will have to see about putting it up!

Good time was had by all. Grench had a real camera, but here is one from my phone...

Grench's truck was the clear winner according to my 5 yr old since his can go underwater with the snorkle. Shaun (Ivan 80) was his second pick with the rest of us bringing up the rear. The Ivan80 and Grench ride along program was a success--I'm still amazed that they ride so well lifted, etc. compared to stock. Sorry Ben, may be keeping the 2.5 kit...

Speaking of the ride alongs, my son keeps asking me why nobody wanted to drive our truck around. I asked him why he thought that and he concluded ours was not cool enough and we need bigger wheels to get it really jacked up, then people will want to ride it. Hmmmm...I think I need to get the 2.5" in "for the children." My wife slipped on the running board yesterday, so I told her sliders could cure that...I'm such a selfless individual.

I am bummed I missed most of the walk-arounds but there is always next time!

Tuttle in the fall would be cool...and thanks again Grench for the "Grench Party."

Funny - one of my boys told me he liked one of the Lexus trucks the best. Something about grass being greener on the other side of boundary markers...

Anyway, I have the pictures I took stored in my camera - and will get them posted up just as soon as the motherboard gets replaced in my laptop. Should be tomorrow sometime.

I'm glad everyone had a good time. I don't regret bringing wives & kids out. The kids all got to play on the nearby equipment. The wives got to see that they were not alone in putting up with the 80s obsession.

It wasn't -my- party, it was all of ours. I think Ivan80 was going to put together some ideas for a Tuttle trip this fall. I'm looking forward to it - and maybe getting a picture of these trucks on a bit less level ground.

Sure I come across this thread a week late. I'll try to keep an eye out for the next time you all meet up.

Another FZJ 80 in Omaha.

LOL, you guys are a few yrs late :) all landcrusier owners used to get
together when we could, mostly BBQs, meet in tuttle once :)

kept missing tornado alley guys.

mostly 40s, few 60 62 one 80 at the time, its been a long while now,
alot moved, sold thier rigs, etc.... alot around still just quiet, like me
now.

Other LC owners in NE?

This makes me wonder how many other NE people are in other sections? What would be the best way to try and get a good count of people on MUD or Cruiser owners in NE?

might be a pain, i know most of the owners that are on here, (other then the 80 owners LOL)
i also know most owners that are not on here as well :)

there is decent numbers here, i would say maybe 1/3 are on the board.
