    BJ41 24v Alternator alternative

Final update: when I removed the old alternator there were several washers that I now realize were filling voids on the underneath bracket for the alternator. I didn't use them when setting the new alternator and before tightening it rocked about an inch back and forth and when fully tightened...

    BJ41 24v Alternator alternative

In case anyone else refers to this thread I installed the new alternator (Alternator for Isuzu 4HF1 8972489141, 8973325020, LR280-501, LR280-506 - https://www.dbelectrical.com/products/alternator-for-isuzu-4hf1-8972489141-8973325020-lr280-501-lr280-506.html) and it fit much better than I...

    BJ41 24v Alternator alternative

Good to hear, Carlo, thanks for your response. I bought an aftermarket alternator for Isuzu 4HF1 like you did and it's on its way. I'm debating whether to tackle it myself (hope too) but it will depend on if any modifications are needed to drop it in. Any insights, photos, etc. you can share are...

    BJ41 24v Alternator alternative

Hi Carlo, how did this work out for you? I’m looking to replace the alternator in my ‘79 BJ41 and am weighing rebuild versus OEM versus compatible alternative. Thanks!

    fj62 Rear Wheel Cylinder

What happened to the original poster happened to me, down to my wife helping by pressing on the brake 😂. The top piece of the cylinder was almost completely out on mine and ended up leaving a decent puddle. Once no more fluid came out I pushed it back in place and assembled the shoes. I haven’t...

    Odd Rear Brake Shoe/Drum Size - '79 BJ41

How did you find a pic of my Cruiser :)? My back axle is semi-floating I believe. I almost pulled the trigger buying new shoes internationally but found them on Cruiserparts.net, which clearly described them as "Non-U.S." and 3 inches wide.

    Odd Rear Brake Shoe/Drum Size - '79 BJ41

Much appreciated. I now see a bunch that look promising but I'll need to speak with sellers to confirm that they're the heavy duty version.

    Odd Rear Brake Shoe/Drum Size - '79 BJ41

This may be OEM part 04494-60020 (front brake shoe). Any insights/thoughts still appreciated.

    Odd Rear Brake Shoe/Drum Size - '79 BJ41

I bought OEM FJ/BJ brake shoe replacements that don't fit my backing plate and drum on my '79 BJ41. The ones I'm removing (brake lining popped off one of the shoes) are wider than OEM (3 inches wide, drum is around 3.25 inches) and the center hole where the pin comes through the backing plate is...

    Making sense of BJ41 4wd

Thanks for the responses so far. I do need to just get underneath and start to figure out what's going on. I don't know the full history of my Cruiser but it was modified from RHD to LHD, and many other things in 43 years. It was lifted, big tires put on, etc...The exterior is almost impeccable...

    Making sense of BJ41 4wd

I imported a '79 BJ41 from Peru for personal use that arrived this past Friday. I expected the tractor-like sound and feel and it will take a while to distinguish between "this is what it is" and "there's an issue that can/should be fixed." For starters though I want to make sure I'm driving in...

Not sure, I'd be looking for minimal investment at least for a few years.
