How much is she worth!! Question about my new fj80

Totally understand, also understand time value of money + inflation. I only threw it out there because it was a s***box when I bought it. If the OP's 93 is in great mechanical shape then all the better.

    FZJ80 / LX450- Alternator Refurbishment or Replacement?

You say your voltage dropped to 13.5? When? At start-up or an Hour into a drive? I thought it was normal for the regulator to lower the voltage after significant charging has been done while driving. For example, I start truck and I see 14.1V. after 30 miles of driving (if im using my lights...

How much is she worth!! Question about my new fj80

Who did the paint job? Whats the underside of the rig look like? Engine bay? I'd say you overpaid by a good $2,000. If it was a 95+ that seems to be the going price these days for a good example. Mine is s***box 97 and I paid $4500 in 2017. Sunk thousands more into since then. Still smile...

Roofnest sparrow / carrying stuff on top

Yea, Im currently thinking the same thing. I just need to mount some hangers on the underside of my roof rack somehow. Then run some long steel bar through, mount the J frames on each side. I think it may work. Im going to go out on a limb and say roofnest would not agree to drilling into the...

Roofnest sparrow / carrying stuff on top

Well I would remove the yaks if I was raising the tent. https://www.mcmaster.com/tube-clamps/weld-mount-clamping-hangers/ Im thinking that I should weld 2 of these on each side, for front and back bars, under the roof rack and run some sturdy steel tubing bar across. That way i can always...

Roofnest sparrow / carrying stuff on top

Ive had this tent for 3 years now. I have an 80 series and its mounted up on top almost all the time. Ive got 2 kayaks now that I want to figure out the best way to carry. Has anyone drilled the top of their tent roof and installed a couple bars on the top? Im thinking some big washers, seal...

1997 LX450 Lost a Wheel - Broken studs and ground down bits

Yeah, It may be good to check out your bearings while youre at it but i agree with the others new rotors, studs. dust shield is thin and bendable with some vice grips. Good thing it wasnt a front wheel.

1997 LX450 Lost a Wheel - Broken studs and ground down bits

Do you have a picture of the damaged side? Sort of depends how much damage you did. What did you torque the nuts to when mounting the spare? Just a guess but you could be looking at a new spindle, birf, etc. maybe even a knuckle if the studs completely sheared off it. Rotor, brake shield...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

    Windshield washer diverter valve

Agree, itll probably booger up again. I put a heatgun to the tape to try and get some bonding with the metal. Didn't take any photos but if youve ever taken apart the diverter cap, its just a spring, a metal washer with some sort of rubberized coating and then the plastic washer with holes in...

    Windshield washer diverter valve

For whatever its worth, I took my diverter out and removed the top plastic cap (crimped on with metal edges of the diverter body. I cleaned the plastic washer (the one with holes in it) and scraped all the old crud off of the metal washer that sits on the spring. Once clean, I put a piece of...

Front Axle Rebuild - For FAQ

Nice work. My knuckles were in bad shape as well. Fortunately the outer axle seal was good so no diff fluid leaks, but the previous owner had someone service them years back and looks like they did a half-ass job. Knuckle was full of a mix of red grease, moly, and probably some whole milk. It...
