Hope you found a 12HT, this is my second engine striped down.
Second photo is the rebuild arriving back.
Now the next 2 photos is the work l have to complete, which are photos on my first 12HT rebuild, which I am going to duplicate again, build time is about six to 8 months.
If you buy a old...
You have to cut, shape and weld a little but its worth the effort. I happened to have a spare tranny hump from a FJ40 I so used that one to combine both pieces to suit the 5 speed.
Then as my FJ40/43 is all fibreglass I got it then copied in fibreglass.
If you can get a fibreglass tranny hump...
Yes, used all the 80 series suspension, but if you want to make life easy, buy a RJ70 chassis ?
This my next project to build a sister FJ40/43 the same as my previous for my grandson but on this chassis. I currently have all the parts in storage, even the 12HT...
HI Guys,, have had a few members looking for this thread in regards to a 2H and a 12HT install into a FJ40, also installing 80 series suspension on a 40 series as well.
Happy Easter
Which ever way you do it will be a lot of work, if try to put the FJ40 body on the 80 series the body is not wide enough, the chassis is too wide, too long and the fj40 body will be too high off the ground.
If you do what I did and put the 80 series suspension parts on the 40 series chassis...
The best 40 series is one with a 12HT in it coupled to a 5 speed, its like going from a 4 cylinder engine to a 6 cylinder. If you have a 2H and put in a 12HT you will wonder why you did not do it years ago, a 2H is a boat anchor compared to a 12HT.
Line up 2 40's, one with a 12HT and the other...
The 12ht engine if it has air-con should be idling at around 800 to 900 revs, otherwise about 750. The damper needs to be screwed in pushing the throttle to increase the revs, sounds like the revs are dropping below 600 or 500 which will cause a 12ht to stall.
I use my damper to set the revs at...
