Parting Out Parting Out a Red 71 FJ40 with extra Front & Rear Seats, Fenders, Spare Tire Carrier and other Extra Parts off a late 70’s FJ40 in New Jersey

Hi Matt. I'd be interested in what you're asking for the hard top and/or the doors. I was planning on going with a soft top but you got me waffling when I saw your hard top. Thanks, Dave

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Dropped off my '74 with Javier at Gulf Coast Crawl Shop in Houston (thanks for the lead @duggy...Javier knows his stuff). The road to restoration has begun. Working on the radiator, headers, installing new fan & shroud, master cylinder, disc brakes, some bodywork, repaint, stereo/speakers...

    Coolant leak?

Well I spent an hour trying to get that drain plug loose using the two-wrench technique to keep from torquing it off and it wouldn't budge. I took it back to the shop and confirmed that yes they did flush it but did so with a vacuum system...didn't take the drain plug out. Which explains why I...

    Coolant leak?

Good call on the block drain...wouldn't have known to do that as well but a little You Tube education and I think I know where to look for it. Dad may very well have used some stop-leak product at some point in the last 30-odd years.

    Coolant leak?

Test 2 complete...no geyser of coolant. Plan going forward is to try to get that drain plug loose and do the flush. I will still take it for a compression test to be sure though. Is it possible that because Dad had it sitting for so long putting no more than about a dozen miles per year on it...

    Coolant leak?

@RAGINGMATT Test 1 complete. This looks like normal oil color and viscosity to me. Whatcha' think? Test 2 to follow...stay tuned.

    Coolant leak?

I was going to go ahead with the flush since I already got all the stuff to do it and when I tried to drain the radiator I found the drain screw to be pretty well stuck. I was afraid to torque on the thing too hard for fear of snapping the damn thing off. When I first brought it home I took the...

    Coolant leak?

@RAGINGMATT well...damn. Should I bother with the flush at this point or would you recommend the compression test first?
