So decision time but figured I'd go to the webs to see if anyone knows how to get ahold of these people
https://carobotor.ca/shop/jpro/
I want to use that dash instead of what's in the JK but I need to know I can hook via OBD II that comes from the r2.8. I've tried calling, emailing, and...
It's certainly not a car build but people seem to be interested in what I'm building in Idaho.... so here we start
This is the driveway to the new shop
or will be once we cut it in.
This is the 'flat' space we bought 10 acres on a hill - the elevation change is over 200 feet - so flat really...
Cummins claims they can't 'demonstrate' the problem even though there's video. While I will continue this fight, I'm buying another crank and flywheel to get this vehicle on the road.... if you imagine the words "when will you buy another Cummins?" the answer is when the devil is buying...
In the trailer - nice of Cummin's Made-in-Usa box being narrow enough to fit through the side door.
engine vibrated, pounded the heck out of the crank end... this is a new one for me.
Off to Cummins tomorrow. Hopefully they stand behind their warranty.
well, update is necessary. The crank is bent. It's wobbling .004. At first, I really thought I'd done it (and who knows, maybe someone will pipe up with how) - it's now to Cummin's warranty.... who isn't responding. Our current theory is the crank was bent when shipped - and that wobble...
Update.
It's at Selkirk Offroad/Land Cruiser shop in Pomeray Idaho (right next to where I live in Sandpoint). They politely told me I could not drive it away until they looked at the noise. Were even going to diagnose for free - but I don't do that, I left it with them to pull the trans and...
this should surprise no one, I found the problem in some random place.... the article describes the issue and what I'm hearing
https://www.dragzine.com/news/whats-that-sound-gear-rollover-and-how-to-reduce-the-noise/
and no, I'd never heard of this before... but the symptoms and noise are...
No worries - not a rod knock
started with a clean pan
but wait, no fuzzies
there is no airgap .... ugh, all the worry for nothing
For those who wonder what this looks like installed
I know it looks like it fills the space, thing is, to not have to shorten driveshafts, enlargen the tunnel...
Soooo
long story short, bottom end sounds like it's losing a rod cap.
Took it to Cummins to diagnose the throttle issue and an electrical gremlin. Both were more installer error.... but when they got done, suddenly it had a rod knock.
We thought it was coming from the transmission.... it's...
new Sandpoint shop... at least, temp shop. done vehicles are there, this one is next to travel this week
but first, fix an exhaust leak
with a v-band
then install an overflow bottle
and PCV line
and finally install the cooler/seat
pad comes later this week.... then onto the trailer and...
Wiring
switched a wire and now have a master switch
off
on
and now with a cover
as the top doesn't leak enough.... a new hole
for shore power
and riveted in place
and we need a seat in back
so why a cooler seat?
whip up a couple brackets
just need to strap it down and craft a couple...
back to the Jeep. The weird sound - almost like a boost leak but not quite. I hope this is the problem
I think I'll weld the flanges together then use a V-band to make it removeable. I spent some quality time on this trying to find the noise... hope it's it. Otherwise, this may go do its...
