Yes, it'll start with 12v, but I've only done that in warmer weather. I've started it as low as -4*F on 24v, but that's when my batteries were good - I tried it this winter when my batteries were on the way out and had a hard time at 0*F. Direct injected glow plugs.

Oh, that might be it! My washer reservoir leaks at the pump. I was messing around with it last year and 100% sure washer fluid got everywhere in that area. A lead! That's great! Thanks! Edit: do you know where that connector is on the wiring diagram? If not, that's cool.

Just reporting back that replacing the starter did not work. :( I was really hoping that'd be the problem same this would be fixed once and for all.
