Kids in a FJ60 - Middle Row Seatbelt Options

Vehicle safety is something I've done a ton of research into over the years. I actually disagree with a lot of people. Modern cars are, at best, misdirected when it comes to safety. Terrible visibility, more distractions than the Las Vagas Strip, a strange obsession with detonatory devices...

    Rust on a land cruiser

Nah, I put a _little_ more effort than that XD Wire wheel, silicone caulk, flashing, rivets, bondo, rattle can, done. Looks awful, but it's better than a hole

    Rust on a land cruiser

I could fix it for about $20. It wouldn't _look_ any better, but it would at least be water proof;)

    Donor engine not firing.

Check the cap and rotor? I've only done either on small engines, but I would have thought a headgasket would have been easier than an engine swap.

    Towing 7,840 lbs with 2004 Lx-470?!

I'll admit I'm not way familiar with the 100/470 series, but 7 to 8 thousand pounds is a lot even for a suburban, which is a _much_ bigger and generally more tow oriented vehicle. Definitely go with a smaller trailer.

    FJ62 speedometer cable repairable?

I have no idea where he got it, but the guy I bought my 62 from earlier this year was able to buy a brand new replacement pretty easily. It broke while he was driving it to meet me. So I guess I got lucky, it broke at the last possible second to not be my problem XD Er, anyway can't be that...

    My Rusty FJ62

Took a break from working on the frame to work on my transmission (Changing the fluid, gasket, and filter). After hours of fluid dripping down my arms as I took out _thirty_ crusty bolts (Can't wait to torque 'em all...) the frame doesn't seem so bad any more :P Still, there wasn't quite as...

    My Rusty FJ62

It does seem like quite a problem spot. It's the bottom of a curve, everything attaches there, has the fewest drainholes of any spot on the frame yet has tons of holes in the sides, and is right next to the rear wheels. Perfect for rot, worst to repair :P I've got it all cut out and cleaned up...

2F ran hot for 1,100 miles--Help deciding what to do next

Never done an engine swap, but I've cut my teeth on 80s-90s GM V8s. Damn good engines, and super plentiful. Don't let my brother hear me say this, but they handle the highway a lot better. You've got my vote

    My Rusty FJ62

I'm officially at the stage in the project where I'm wondering what the heck I got myself into.

    My Rusty FJ62

Compared to my dad's '99 Suburban, it's really not that bad ;) I have considered what I would do to replace the whole frame. I can't imagine finding one up here, and I could never afford shipping one up. A part of me wants to give it straight frame rails like a truck. It would be much easier...

If only I had that kind of budget :P Alright, alright, I'll dig out the old welder

    My Rusty FJ62

Thanks! Yeah, at first I assumed I had a burnt out bulb on the passenger side, but switching between low and high does switch between the low and high bulbs, the low just turns off when the high turns on. I checked on one of my family's American trucks, and it switched between as well, so I...

    My Rusty FJ62

Right, well, I've been looking at all my options for fixing this frame, between the expensive, difficult, and questionable. I'm really not confident, as someone who's never welded before, using a 120V Harbor Freight welder, to weld this frame reliably. I'm looking at various options on the...

New to the 60-Series World – Looking for a Project FJ60 or FJ62

Personally a big reason I bought my 62 was the old school i6 engine. Although my brother who bought a 5.7L Suburban instead keeps insisting that one day when I'm not looking he's gonna swap my 3FE with a "real engine" chevy small block XD As for Diesel, ya'll have HJ's down there, don't ya? I...
