The Car Care Nut talks UR V8 blown head gaskets

2017 LX570 105,000 miles on original coolant. Looks to be a 9 on the pH scale.

Had my first AHC Issue today (2013 LX570)... Brrr, it's cold

I am in Calgary as well and I just saw this, but the exact same thing happened to me during the same cold snap. Probably the same day as you. I had mine in easy access mode as well, and it would not raise. I was able to confirm that the pump was not trying to run, so I assumed it was some...

Michelin Defenders (LTX M/S) not recommended on 2011 LX570????

This was on my ISF, so not apples to apples, but I got around this by ordering the tires by size from the website and not specifying the vehicle type. Then I just dropped off the rims - not the car - and got out of there before they asked questions. I wanted to upsize beyond their allowable...

    2015 LX570 Rear differential leak.

If memory serves, the tough bolt was towards the passenger side/pump side. I think it was right where this line attaches to the next line. Either a frame rail or a crossmember (can't remember) was right in the way. It was tricky getting to it, and for a while I considered cutting the line and...

    2015 LX570 Rear differential leak.

I had this exact problem, corrosion in the exact same place. I replaced the line myself and the system has continued to work flawlessly for the last 4 years. Just a heads up, there was one specific bolt behind the frame that holds the line that was very hard to remove/replace. I was able to...

    Part number needed

Does anyone know the part number for the lower lip on a 2021 lx570 sport? Circled in the picture below. I need a new grill on my 2017 LX and would prefer to change it out to the sport look. I would buy both the grill and the lower lip, but can't seem to find a part number for the lower lip.

    Transmission software update in Canada

Get it done! I had to be pretty firm with the service manager, but he eventually went for it. He wanted to have someone diagnose the vehicle to confirm the "problem" existed, etc etc. I can't picture being able to convince and average service advisor that there was even a problem, especially...

    Transmission software update in Canada

The TSB for mine was also from 2017, however the newest '500' software (not mentioned in the TSB) is from 2018. I would speculate that if you had the TSB done after 5/9/2018 you likely have the newest '500' software. Otherwise probably you have the '400'. There doesn't seem to be a difference...

    Transmission software update in Canada

Update: The dealership did the software upgrade and wow, what a difference. Completely solved my issue which the TSB describes as "Shift shock 1st to 2nd gear when the water temperature is below 60°C (140°F)." In my case I wouldn't have called it shift shock as much as a hesitation between...

    Transmission software update in Canada

Update: The Canadian TSB is L-TCI-3776. The car is at the dealership now, they have agreed to apply the new calibration for a couple hundred dollars.

    Transmission software update in Canada

Thanks for the advice. I will try all that with the service manager when he calls. I am only 90 miles from the Montana border but probably a lot further than that to a dealership :)

    Transmission software update in Canada

The service advisor said they wouldn't do it at all, and that it only applies to US vehicles. I have a voicemail into the service manager, so we will see.

    Transmission software update in Canada

Anyone have any luck convincing a Canadian dealership to apply the 8spd transmission update - TSB 0209-17 (LSB 0118-17 for Lexus). My 2017 LX acts like it needs the update but the dealership says they can't do it because the above LSB is written for the US market.
