    Loud Engine Fan

And, conversely, when I turn off the car, and the engine is hot, I’d expect the fan to run for a bit. 04 LC. Thanks

    Loud Engine Fan

Thanks. The idea of the fan speed directly linked to engine RPM seemed to go against the very definition of a fan clutch. At idle, with engine cool, I didn’t expect much coolant system activity.

    Loud Engine Fan

An old thread, I know, but: I had a shade tree mechanic replace my fan clutch. He showed me it needed to be replaced by stopping the fan with his hand while the engine was running. Seemed legit, but I’m not a mechanic. Anyway, ever since he replaced it, I now have a super loud fan. It seems to...

It worked for a minute I think. No more. The guys in NYC did a great job for me. Or I was lucky.

It’s an exact duplicate of original. So, the “weak link” persists. It’s not an “improved” board. Although to be fair, it’s probably the coupling of the board to the rest of the MFD that may be the problem, not the board itself

$500 was worth it to me. Not many other options. Was fixing my truck up to sell. Replaced driver seat leather and some other stuff. Bought a 2008 to replace the 04. In the end, the 04 was more my style (and now fully operational) so sold the 08. Live and learn.

$240 sounds right for the board. Can't remember where i got it, but it was off ebay. Same original manufacturer as the OEM board. So, basically an OEM board (with the same week solder). I think the solder 'repair' done in NYC was $100-150. Did that through ebay as well. If i get a chance i'll...

DIY: 2004 Multi Function Display (MFD) PIN 60 Repair

The new “original” board I ordered from somewhere in Asia, can’t remember, but I got it off eBay, didn’t really work out if the box. They really are identical to the OEM boards I guess. Just not in a good way. The guys I bought it from said they’re tested and work. I actually don’t doubt that...

    Front speakers - 2-way or 3-way?

    1. I have NOT read all of these audio threads, 😂, so feel free to point me in the right direction, 2) I almost never listen to the radio, but have a new (to me) 08, and decided to check it out. Rush was on the radio. Cool. Flashback to youth. Tom Sawyer. Great Neil Pert action. But the system...

    Just Picked Up A 200

just bought an 08. Couldn't figure out what the puck was on my roof, leading edge over passenger. Then i noticed 'no shark fin'. ahh, i get it. Maybe a dealer installed XM or whatever. Call me childish, but i always thought the shark fine looked cool. even if i don't listen to satnav. Might...

    Need help with right mirror

just passenger side wobble. ordered both kits. having a hell of a time getting the screws out. Stopped before i stripped them. They seem seized. crikey. long screw driver awkward, and it forces an angled approach so the torx (sp?) head isn't seated. Will have to look into the ratchet thing...

damn, it's on and off. crap. Wondering if i just try and order a new ($300) board. No one cares if radio works. or map. but when the MFD is off, the AC controls don't function. OK if left on Auto, but the first time the battery dies (or is disconnected) you can't reset the AC. crap. I'll double...

DIY: 2004 Multi Function Display (MFD) PIN 60 Repair

Recap on my efforts. First solder job worked great for a year or so. Failed again and the patch didn’t hold at all really. New circuit board installed last night. Worked as advertised. MFD didn’t connect this morning for about 20 min, then came on. Makes me nervous that this is a temp fix. At...
