Okay, I was finally able to put together the two hoses I need with the help of a local hydraulic hose company. It's not pressure tested yet, and is likely a few weeks, to months away from testing. I will update when test, and provide what info I can on parts used. Thanks to everyone who responded.
Does anyone know what you call the type of fitting in the picture above, of my power steering pump. It's not flared, but a straight down hole, flat at the bottom. I purchased this fitting hoping to convert it.
Yeah, I've tried that locally, and it's been a nightmare. I won't go into it, but I'm still trying to find something to work. The FJ was worked over REAL well south of the border before I got it, and the stuff I'm running into is not for the faint of heart. LOL Rewired the whole truck and one of...
I know this was a long time ago, but I have a South American FJ40 I need power steering hoses for. Pump on passenger side (left/US). Can you tell me what you eventually found?
By the way, after inspecting the shafts, namely the pitman arm shaft, it has significant wear, to the point of needing to be replaced. So, a rebuilt unit may be my best option.
Great question, and one I hadn't considered enough, until now, even though there's enough other stuff I've run into that wasn't original. You'd think I'd have thought of that. After further inspection, the pedestal is cast iron, but has been welded onto the frame, and it looks like I can see a...
Hello all, I purchased an 82' FJ40 which was imported from Venezuela, and I'm SLOWLY getting it road worthy. I need some advice on how to get a rebuild kit for the PS gearbox, or best options for getting this one rebuilt. Any suggestions?
Hi guys. Enjoyed reading all this about VZ FJ’s. I have one my brother in law bought in Miami, and I’m working on it for him. I found a wiring diagram which most closely resembled what was left of the original (not much), and I’ve rewired it. Now, on to the brakes. The wheel cylinder has...
Excellent. Thank you. The wheel cylinder I pulled actually has “Wagner” barely legible on it which gave me pause, being a US manufactured part on a Venezuelan vehicle.
I have a Venezuelan 1982 fj40 and am having a dickens of a time finding rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. Does anyone have any insight? I’ve ordered two different sets from AutoZone and Advanced. One looked almost just like mine, only a good bit too short in length.
My ammeter may be fried. I’m not getting any juice through it, and an ohm check shows open. I had to shunt the two wires going to it to get power to the functions.
