Just chiming in to say that the wiper motor replacement fixed my issue as well. Intermittent mode had finally died out completely after sputtering for years. I tried replacing the combo switch first, but same behavior existed.

Went from 285/75/16 (33 inch) on SCS F5s to 285/75/17 (34 inch) on Method 314s. Still warming up to it, I kind of miss the F5s. Before: After:

I had previously disassembled and cleaned the contacts with isopropyl, but the buttons were as stingy as ever.
