Amp and Oil pressure gauge setup

Update... Thanks toy_tek for your response. It helped alot. I understand the wiring diagram now. I found the oil sender (see pic) and there is a stub of a yellow/red wire on it. I also found the yellow/red wire (see pic) that was cut from the harness and was able to confirm continuity from...

Amp and Oil pressure gauge setup

Hello everyone, I'm working on getting my amp and oil pressure gauges working and need some assistance as I'm electrically challenged. These are the gauges that reside above the shifters on my '79. I'm thinkin that they are just not hooked up. The idiot lights on the main dash panel work...

    1980 20R engine rookie

I would recommend 3 psi. It’s probably best to get the regulator and a gauge so you know exactly what pressure you are providing. Here is my setup as an example. I’m running the Weber 32/36.

    Exhaust Manifold questions (20R)

Thanks for the input. I got the heat shield off and had a look. There are supposed to be 7 studs holding the manifold on and sure enough there is no stud back by cylinder #4 where I was feeling the exhaust air. Also, as is usually the case, looks like someone has been in here before as I...

    Exhaust Manifold questions (20R)

I've been tracking down/fixing some exhaust leaks and now I have come to the primary leak. When I hold my hand up against the heat shield I can feel exhaust air coming out a couple of the open ports (see pic), so I assume I need to replace the exhaust manifold gasket. I've done some research...

    Toyota Beater Build - 1981 4WD

You’re killing it with the videos. Puts a smile on my face with each update. Now that she’s made her first trash run I think she’s ready for a car show. That old truck is sure to get more attention than any concours restoration.

Air Vent only works on High, no Low or Med

Just wanted to comment how much I enjoy this forum and the knowledge that is here. My heater blower has never worked on Low since I got my '79. I found this thread in a matter of minutes and pulled my heater blower resistor out. Sure enough, one of the coils is broken (see pic). Found the...

    L43 shifter assistance

I would think that your leak is transmission fluid. There is is probably a bad oil seal where the shifter shaft goes into that side case in front of the deteriorated boot you have circled in red on your picture.

Need help diagnosing windshield wiper pump not working

No worries. Thanks for looking. I'll keep an eye out for one. I've never been, but I may take a trip to a salvage yard. Anybody know of any good yards that have these old trucks in the Dallas area?

Need help diagnosing windshield wiper pump not working

Well, good news and bad. Good news is that I've diagnosed where the problem is. Bad news is that it is the switch. I tested continuity from the wiring harness (see pic) back to the switch and I have NO continuity when the button is pressed. I then tested continuity from the wiring harness...

Need help diagnosing windshield wiper pump not working

Per your suggestion, gnob, I used the 10V off the plug and connected ground to the other lead on the pump and the pump does work. So I need to check the switch. I can test for continuity or maybe just clean the connections on the stalk switch first. How does that stalk come apart? Does the...

Need help diagnosing windshield wiper pump not working

No, I am not pushing the washer button. I just have key on and measuring for 12 volts on the blue wire. Key off = 0V, Key on = 10.4 volts checking at front and rear of connector.

Need help diagnosing windshield wiper pump not working

Ok, with key on and voltmeter connected to negative terminal of battery and blue wire on pump plug I am getting 10.4V. Seems like that should be showing 12V?
