Sounds like you have difficult decisions to make. The challenge with a used engine is that anything non-metalic is going to be a problem; due more to age than mileage. Best of luck

Good question. In theory, I could have saved money by assuming the cylinders were not needing to be bored out (they actually didn't, machinist measured). And then done a poor man's hone (not exactly sure how???). I could have done the head work, I guess. I trusted the machinist completely, so...

Fj80oregon is the only source I'd trust for an engine swap. I did a complete rebuild on mine at 372k miles. But, everything was working great. That made the job easier, cheaper and increased the odds of a good end product. I wanted to do it; didn't NEED to do it. Liked it so much I'd like to do...

Generally, one selling point of a LX is that they rarely (if ever) get beat on. It's not the "normal" Lexus clientele. Seeing the snorkel, and other things mentioned above indicate that this one is far outside the normal LX. Shopping elsewhere would be recommended

My 2 pennies... There's a few different ways to get a stone cold reliable engine. The 7 main bearings are SO over engineered that if they are in spec, then they are plenty strong. I replaced mine mostly because they aren’t expensive, so no biggie.

#2 first. Toyota makes a "overhaul" gasket kit. Definitely the way to go. As to #1... Most would say no. But, it depends on your intended use case, your wallet, and, your tolerance for putting your vehicle out of service, etc. Also, rebuilding a engine that isn't already in trouble is easier...

Well, yes and no. Toyota conservative engineering, high quality and I'm 99% sure that the previous owner stayed on top of maintenance (oil changes, etc.) Current selling LC's (aka, 250s) can't claim that the engine is a conservative design - for better, or worse

Post #5 IS likely the best answer... That said. As a extra class Ham; that antenna visually appears to be for VHF (specifically, 2 meters). I wouldn't mount it there either. Moreover, if it's not connected to coax and a radio, well then it's functionality might be a wee bit comprised. But...
