Thanks GS, will give them a try. Mine is in getting the clutch repaired but I am looking forward to getting it out on the road once its ready and the weather improves!! Maybe the we can have a BJ40/42 meet some day! All the best
Did you buy those from your local dealer in Ireland? Have a BJ42 myself and will be looking for some parts in Ireland, located in Wicklow.
Nice rig btw
Hi guys,
Have had a look around the forum for power steering options for a 1981 RHD bj42. Have seen loads of options for our but not RHD.
Would a factory setup from a bj42 with power steering just "bolt on" or would there be some more required?
Thanks in advance
Great work, I'd love to install something like this on my BJ42 but electrics aren't my best!
Where did you wire all your circuits into? Eg for your switched power? Or did you run new relays off the battery?
Thanks guys, will keep my eye out for a 40's power steering setup!!
Can't wait to get my 40 registered and on the road this week! I'm like a kid at Christmas!!
Thanks Ken...no big plans as of yet just thinking about a few short trips to the Blue Mountains for some off roading and camping and maybe a bigger trip down to Mt. Kosziosco and the highlands down there!
As regards work on the truck the only thing I really wanna do is get some powersteering on...
So I eventually took the plunge and bought the BJ42 after looking around for a couple of months. Bought this from the South Australian/Victorian border so it was a "blind" purchase as I am based in Sydney. I got a mechanic down there to have a quick check and a once over so when it arrived there...
hey guys, so I just went and bought myself a BJ42 and it needs a good service and some worn parts replaced. Is there anybody from Sydney Australia that could recommend a good mechanic to work on it?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Yeah, the rust seems pretty serious as well it's not just a bit of surface rust. Yes, the people that have it run the FJ40lovers website I believe. they do love their landcruisers but I think other things have just taken up their time and maybe haven't been able to keep on top of the BJ42's...
