Update. Found the culprit. House cat climbing around the engine bay while it was in the garage with hood up knocked the intake hose off of the afm. Unmetered air caused it to die after cranking. Thanks for the input.

Check all your wires on your distributor and make sure you didn’t knock one loose. Seems like you aren’t getting spark and flooded the engine. Check your dipstick and see if your oil smells like fuel to see if it had been flooded. Might need an oil change after you get it running. same...

Using the original flex plate. I wonder if I could have bent it when I bolted the tranny to the engine with the torque converter seated improperly. I will pull it off there and see if it looks screwed up.
