In September a buddy of mine from HS offered to meet in the Tetons, so I drove over from OR, sleeping in the back along the way. He's into wildlife photography, but I pretty much stuck to pictures of landscapes and Wilbur. :p
Yeah... the upper hatch does open easily. When I have gas and/or water cans in the carriers, I have to be careful. The jerry can will just touch the hatch if I don't pull it back a little. You can see the clearance in the pic below.
Total cost was $1500, but that included the windshield replacement, removal of the roof rack, replacement of the seals on the sunroof on top of the rust treatment and paint. I know these guys are expensive, but they do great work.
Had a rust spot over the windshield repaired. The previous owner had to have the windshield replaced in Argentina, and apparently they scratched the paint with led to the rust. Local body shop took out the windshield, sanded it down, treated it, and matched the paint. Hopefully that will protect...
Got out for a three-day excursion in SW Idaho. Fun little distraction.
Got back last night and took it into the shop this morning to get an emissions sensor replaced so the check engine light is finally off. While in, I had them calibrate the stability control system, as it's been causing me...
It's a ProSpeed rack. It's great. Was pretty easy to put on and relatively inexpensive. The one down side is that the cross-rails have to be removed to slide in mounting hardware.
