Belt rubbing on TLC air pump delete bracket bolt

Yeah I can definitely take off the washer to gain another 1/8 or so. Still tight but would be better for sure.

Fresh engine rebuild, oil pan gasket slightly wet, will cork swell?

Yes, I had the blocked hot tanked and cleaned at the machine shop. The oil pan had been leaking since I bought it and I cleaned all of the surfaces thoroughly. I also wire wheeled the oil pan flange itself to remove all of the old cork. I let it run for a while today, and so far no drips...

Fresh engine rebuild, oil pan gasket slightly wet, will cork swell?

Took the old girl for a ride yesterday, and after I got back I was checking for leaks and noticed the back of the oil pan where the curved part sits on the last main bearing cap was wet, and there may have been one drip. I wiped it dry and this morning there doesn’t appear to be any fresh...

Belt rubbing on TLC air pump delete bracket bolt

Crawled under the old girl yesterday to check for leaks after engine install and test drive, and I noticed that the belt is rubbing on the smog pump delete bracket. See attached pic. Everything appears to be together correctly, I’m assuming this should be so tight of a clearance. Any idea...

Desmog ? - workaround for no BVSV for evap system

My original lower thermostat housing with the 2 BVSV bungs cracked at the flange when torqued to the factory torque spec, so I bought a new one without the sensor bungs. I've got all my vacuum lines hooked up after my desmog now except for the one running to the BVSV from evap VSV. What's...

Diagnosing coolant leak freshly rebuilt 2F engine

Yeah I just unbolted the pump, and sure enough it was the wrong gasket. Cleaned everything up, left bottom hoses attached to the water pump which made it a much easier job, and reassembled with the correct gasket and sealant. Still cannot believe I missed this!

Diagnosing coolant leak freshly rebuilt 2F engine

Yeah I think you are right on the water pump gasket. I can see the gasket at the top of the water pump which looks like the Aisin gasket so that's what I probably used. Ugg dealing with this water pump w/ aux heat is the worst part of the job and now I've got to do it again!

Diagnosing coolant leak freshly rebuilt 2F engine

I’m reading now about others having to retorque the head bolts after a couple of starts. Hadn’t seen this before maybe thats the problem.

Diagnosing coolant leak freshly rebuilt 2F engine

Finally wrapping up this rebuild project which of course turned into a rabbit hole. Replaced all coolant hoses, new Toyota OEM clamps, etc. Reinstalled radiator this morning, added coolant and fired her up, and I’ve got a steady drip coming down the front driver’s side of the engine. I...

Adjusting bracket for smog pump is bent

Yeah I went back and looked at pics taken before the engine was pulled for rebuild and the bracket was already bent. I had my son tightening it and I’m pretty sure he’s not strong enough to torque it to the point of bending it if was not already compromised.

Adjusting bracket for smog pump is bent

I’m in the process of finishing up an engine install and desmogging while I’m at it. I’ve got the TLC air pump eliminator pulley installed. I’m guessing my OE adjustment bracket was already bent prior to disassembly and I just didn’t notice. But now without the meat of the air pump giving it...

    Mechanical fuel pump priming needed?

Yes it’s the original pump, I was afraid of that! I’m going to check the vacuum out of the inlet tube tomorrow with a gauge just to confirm.

    Mechanical fuel pump priming needed?

Pulled the motor out of my wife’s rig about 6 mos ago, and finally went back with the rebuilt motor this weekend. I can get the motor to run by adding fuel to the carb, but it doesn’t appear the fuel pump is sucking anything out of the tank. I’m using the original 3 line pump with a new spacer...
