Luke got the Patrol reassembled and it’s back to being a runner - and this time on all 6 cylinders. The new Nissan forklift distributor replaced the original crusty one that was the source of our problems.
Shout out to @Cirbo. Days from moving and with a half-packed shop, he nonetheless helped Luke this weekend tackle a roll bar project on his speedster. We never would have figured it out. Stay tuned for future race updates.
The little Patrol engine is finally at the reassembly phase. Thankfully the original head survived. Repaired with new exhaust valves, valve guides, and hardened valve seats. Hopefully the exhaust valves don’t eat into the head again. New head gasket & oil pan gasket ready for install.

Cool area. Luke and I were recently up there with the 40 & Patrol. Did Fenwick Mines Road (easy rating), camped at The Pines, and saw the entrance to Pitts (difficult rating). Not much cell signal in that area so plan accordingly.
Yep, good thread. Just put in my order for front and brake goodies for my ‘82 40. I think the mirror finish on my old shoes means I squeezed far more out of them then recommended. Learned it is possible to use up all the brake material, and grind enough drum metal that a brake cylinder can...
