there are occasionally clicks and clunks when turning, though nothing super regular. i think literally every bushing on this thing could use replacement, so i'm sure a lot of the noises are from those, heh. i have been curious about the spindles, but i didn't think to inspect them (or even...
howdy, thanks for the response. i need to look at that thread again, but, frankly, it's 25 pages long and has lots of needless chatter to sift through. its passing the horizon of usability.
i have seen that video, and the work doesn't look too bad. but, i don't need another project getting...
howdy folks - i haven't been around in a bit, but there hasn't been much news on the Land Cruiser front. it did hit 333,333mi, though!
can anyone recommend a place in or very close to Montgomery County, MD to replace the birfs, bearings, and associated bits for the front axle? this is...
aha, thanks for the link and your recommendation! that seems like a good price for the glass; i'm going to check some places around Rockville and see about having the glass shipped right to them.

howdy folks,
i haven't been too active lately as i haven't been working on the 80 much. however, the recent rain has revealed a leak that drains into my driver's side footwell. i can see it dripping in at the lower corner of the windshield, plus the windshield itself is thoroughly pitted and...
thanks, folks! i definitely want to return to Peter's Mill, as it's such a nice area and the trail is about right for my beginner level. i started on the Edinburgh side, so i could return to drive it in reverse.
bonus photos!
those side-by-sides are pretty fast:
a modest start - i'm glad...
another update: i replaced the parking brakes (and adjusted, and adjusted, and adjusted...), fixed the driver's seat, and passed inspection! the drivability is still on the mediocre side, so i still want to fix up the steering more and mmmmaybe replace the brake calipers before i call it good...
good info for keeping an eye out for that little rubber washer. i know Ace and Home Depot tend to have neoprene washers in their parts aisle, though a little trimming could be necessary for a perfect fit.
that would be my guess, or a PO had used a spray oil for maintenance. i'm about to tear...
update time! i didn't do much work on the truck the past couple weeks, as i'd been waiting for tools and parts (thank you, obviously artificial Amazon delays). but, i jumped back into it over the past few days.
i tightened up the right side hub nuts, which did remove the vertical play in the...
i'm glad i came out! it was a good time, as i enjoyed meeting folks and seeing the range of builds. big thanks to Stump for the manual, Red for the bumper cap, and Dominican for the deal on the passenger steps. plus, it was super helpful to get some experienced ears on my engine to confirm...
that's a nice surprise! i figured i might have a shot at looking for a paper manual, but also that it probably wouldn't be a 1995. thanks, i'll keep an eye out for you & your Cruiser.
oh, and your sig reminds me: KI6NV0

aha, thank you. it doesn't happen too often, and seems to be when i hit kickdown or WOT; i clear the code and it's fine for a while. maybe the sharp change in vac is messing with a switch? i definitely want to service the vacuum system at some point, but i wonder if a chemical cleaning would...
i have more to add for sale:
transfer case knob (good shape, except for some scrapes)
used fan clutch (just waiting for someone to rebuild)
i'm verrry interested in the Maxtrax, especially since it'll be a while before i get a winch. guess i gotta (sigh) wake up early...

i've been wondering about this. the MD rule is to run the OBD-II test (just hooking up a computer) on cars 1996 and later, because that's when OBD-II was required in the US. cars 1995 and earlier get the sniffer test, because they presumably don't have an OBD-II port. however, this 1995 has...
