The official part number request thread

2021 Land Cruiser. Looking for a couple screws or fasteners that hold the plastic splash guards on. Looks like the dealer kept a few souvenirs when I had my headlights swapped out. Thought about having them change my oil, and this reminded my why I avoid them when I can. Thanks in advance.

    2018 Headlight Fogging Inside

The tl;dr is Toyota replaced the headlights with very little fuss and no cost to me. The longer version. After the steps noted in my post above, I set an appointment with the dealer that I purchased the truck from. When I arrived, the service advisor was initially talking about doing a...

    2018 Headlight Fogging Inside

I have fogging inside my 2021 heritage headlights. Thought it was water vapor and tried drying with a desiccant pack inserted in the turn signal lightbulb access. No change. Doesn’t respond to sun/heat. Inserted a pipe cleaner and was able to wipe a little of the haze. Seems more like outgassing...

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

Guhhh, I might have to do the “analog override” method to get the LEDs on the switch to light up while it’s active. I also want to swap it out for a momentary switch so it wouldn’t get latched on if bumped. I guess that’s the cool thing about sharing your work on a forum! Thanks for ideas!

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

Yeah, that’s kinda where the discussion above is heading. Probably the better way for most people, but I haven’t tested it. One nice side effect for me was being able to use a pre-run wire through the firewall without having to remove my compressor. Probably similar levels of effort to 3d...

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

Just remembered I had this old “brain” sitting on the shelf after taking those pictures. I was in there swapping out the brain as part of the wireless remote recall kit. The four pin connector on the right goes to the wired port for the winch remote. Black grounds to the winch chassis. Green was...

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

Yeah, there’s probably something to the wireless compatibility. Maybe “we already need a brain in here for wireless compatibility, let’s make the winch less susceptible to chafed wires while we’re at it.” I have this picture from a few months ago where you can see the small brain box in the...

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

More details are in the video, but here's the abridged version: Why I wanted in-cab controls: The strange behavior is that modern warn winches don't use traditional switches inside the remote to control the winch. The remotes send digital signals that are interpreted on the winch side to make...

6th Gen 4Runner news and rumors

@cruiseroutfit do any of the 250 Land Cruiser trims in the US get the 9.5" diff? And just to clarify the above, are just the TRD Pro/Trailhunter models of the 6th generation 9.5", or other trims? All GX/LX models in the US with a 9.5" diff? Thanks!

Reverse engineering the Warn winch controller (in-cab controls)

Hi everyone. A few months I attempted to run in-cab controls to my Warn winch, but hit some strange snags with the controller signals. I had another go at it recently and made a video about my findings. Hope this helps anyone trying to figure out what's going on with their modern Warn winch.

    Summer trip planning

I did Rim Rocker back in 2020. I think it's kind of interesting as a connector between the San Juans and Moab. It has some scenic parts, but doesn't really compare to the quality of trails and views in Moab and the San Juans themselves. Maybe a fun and slow way to avoid the interstate, but it...
