im dechroming all of my pieces, mirrors, fender vents, front headlight bezels to dip in a kevlar finish.... im going to be using muratic acid to eat the chrome away and loosen it up. the big central grill is going to be the hardest part as its large ill post pics of how this goes

the way i do the inner clip is suspend the birfield vertical, cage up, put the inner axle in till the clip has a bit of pressure on it, take a small regular screwdriver and barely push the end of the ring clip while putting a lean and bit more pressure on the clip as you hold the inner axle...

just ordered a set of 20 over pistons and rings, actually they are the carb version of the fj80s from dubai...should be here thursday. a motor we are working on needed an oversize and toyota is funky with they way they do it. your first tick marks are 1, 2, and 3 and they are all 'standard'...

follow up post, come to find out the motor was 'rebuilt' just prior to this owner acquiring it, he could never drive it because of the oiling issue. the no oiling issue for the rocker assembly, turns out they installed the cam bearings without lining up the oiling holes
