Anyone know a locksmith that can re-key door lock cylinder?

Graphite was once a fantastic product for lubrication. Schlage locks still come with graphite powder from the factory. The problem is that people always use too much. The graphite ends up going into the springs, and eventually compacts down, making the wafer stick. Which makes people put more...

Soak in PB blaster. The wafers always freeze up. I usually file or brush the wafers a bit thinner before I put them back in the cylinder. Do not use graphite powder. White lithium grease is ideal, or any synthetic if you need. Silicone works well in a pinch.

Any locksmith shop should do it. I don't know any in California, unfortunately. You could send them to me if you can't find something. I rekey a lot of cars and trucks, but have only worked on my 40.

correct heating route for 78 2f

So, I'm now off work, and the hood is open. Turns out, I have no idea whats going on. This box(radiator?) has the pipe going to the non valve/switch side to the front heater core. the other side has a hose that goes under the radiator hose, up to the water pump area. was this originally meant to...

correct heating route for 78 2f

Did you get the metal pipe that attaches to the engine side cover? Here is a pic of a 78 that shows the heater lines in the engine compartment. I assume you also have the heater shut-off valve? The metal pipe running down the right side of the block is there, not attached to anything

correct heating route for 78 2f

After searching, ive found most of the info I need, but there's one thing I've yet to see. In my 74, the po put a desmogged 78 2f engine in. The heater lines are disconnected though, it was just used as a farm truck. I bought new lines, and the pipe in the coolant return line, which was missing...

This seems dead, but I'll leave my note! Moved to Boulder for work two years ago, bought a 40 in the fall. Not in the best shape, but its a starting place.

Only able to jump start the 40

Thanks everyone. I'll be checking into the solenoid after work today. I'm learning that the previous owner really did a hack job wiring this thing.

Only able to jump start the 40

So, like so many others, my first post is a problem. Hello everyone! Last summer I bought my first 40. My parents had a 62 that I grew up in, but rusted apart (thanks salty VT!) Anyway, My FJ40 is a 1974, the engine is out of a 78 as best I can tell-no smog stuff because 75 is the cutoff for...
