Is this a bad idea? (fuel bags)

My build is about 40% aliexpress, 40% "adventure kings" (cheap aussie mass retail outlet), and 20% "expensive stuff" from brand-name reputable sellers. 100% of it all is deep-research full-common-sense, not "blind trust" or "cost more must be good" silliness. 100% of the aliexpress things have...

Is this a bad idea? (fuel bags)

The bags are just for the Canning, and possible Oombulgurri - I would not use them anytime I do not have to. They're supposedly specifically for Diesel: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006248618453.html I'll investigate other options and maybe try to fix the leaky cap situation; but maybe...

Is this a bad idea? (fuel bags)

Looks like the bag itself is answering my question for me: (that's not the cap which leaked overnight - its coming from bag-side - the base of the threads where they join the bag) So yeah - needless to say this one is not an AS/NZS 2906:2001 approved container...

Is this a bad idea? (fuel bags)

Before I go "all in" on the (sketchy?) plan of carrying 4 or so 33L (7 1/4 gal) bags of diesel fuel on the floor of my 200-series cruiser... does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? I considered inbuilt long-range tanks, but that adds extreme permanent inconvenience by moving my...

SQOD Squad - Stupid Question Of the Day

technically, no. Software adds a fixed component to comply with government speeding regulations (e.g. UNECE Regulation 39). In my 2015 LC200 Sahara, it adds 4km/h to my real speed, for every speed about 10km/h (9 is 9, then it jumps to 14 when I'm doing 10, 64 at 60, 84 at 80, 104 at 100, 114...

How to (re-)enable navigation map breadcrumb trail list on my 2015 LC200 Sahara?

Thanks *HEAPS* for that clue - the notice "this feature is available when the map scale is 50km or less" is almost certainly the cause of not being able to get this back on (I'll update tomorrow - kids borrowed my car to go camping so cannot test right now).

How to (re-)enable navigation map breadcrumb trail list on my 2015 LC200 Sahara?

My map used to show red dots along the route I've driven, which saved us getting lost a few times in maze-like bush and mining areas - it stopped working when I disconnected my battery to re-set my tailgate motors... Here's the only photo I could find from when it was working (I thought it was...

LC-200 2015 lower tailgate latch motors problem - can these be "reset" ?

Update - I worked it all out. Here's what I did which fixed the problem: I manually ensured all the mechanisms were fully closed (all microswitches depressed) - I did this by removing the actuators, momentarily supplying 12v to the motor so the arm moved enough to depress the microswitch)...

LC 200 2018+ Power Tailgate Assist Repair

My pre-facelift 2015 sahara has the same mechanism (no strings). You can probably release the mechanism with your hand if you're in the trunk, and can reach down below the motor, find the lever thing, and push it upwards with your finger. I got mine opened about a year ago before I knew this...

LC-200 2015 lower tailgate latch motors problem - can these be "reset" ?

My LHS lower-tailgate latch mechanism was getting "sticky - required banging and tugging to get it to release. I pulled out the motor part and noticed that the release lever wasn't being pushed far enough by the motor (by a tiny amount - 1 millimeter or less). Stupidly, I removed the motor to...

Speedo, always 4km/h too high (regardless of speed) - can anything other than techstream fix this?

Thanks @kcjaz - that's extremely useful to know. I did spend all day setting up techstream safely inside a VM and hooking it up; there's no setting anyplace I could find relating to the speedo, so I guess I'll just have to ignore that. At least being wrong by 4 at all times makes it easy to go...

Speedo, always 4km/h too high (regardless of speed) - can anything other than techstream fix this?

My speedo jumps from 5km to 9km as I accelerate, then stays 4km above my real speed always (24=20, 64=60, 104=100, etc). I gather this can be fixed in techstream (which I'm afraid to try - virus nightmare). I've got other ODB-II adapters though... does anyone know any other software that can...

How to fix 200-Series refusing to engage low-range (transfer actuator malfunction)

Grr - that would have saved me a *lot*. The problem on the inside looked very minor to me. I just checked my mechanics $4001 work. He had not connected the breather tube.

How to fix 200-Series refusing to engage low-range (transfer actuator malfunction)

Both the O-rings were still in great shape, and there was no sign of any dust or moisture having made its way in (not past the O-rings, and not through the breather tube either). I read someplace that the computer "tests" these things on start-up with a short pulse of power - I imagine that a...
