The Best Front Mount Intercooler for KZJ78 Prado.

Ohh I know that part, just wondering if there was an agreed upon size, brand, model etc for an intercooler that best fits the job. All the piping and hole cutting is custom, but wondering on the actual intercooler itself.

The Best Front Mount Intercooler for KZJ78 Prado.

G'Day, all knowing brethren. So the general consensus is that for the KZJ78, a front mount intercooler does the best job. Is there an agreed upon intercooler that is the best fit for the job? I brought in my rig to a place here on Vancouver Island to get the job done, and the kit they brought...

Correlation of EGT temps and location of pyrometer.

I'm wondering if there would be a range of egt temps based on where the pyrometer is installed? Could some locations give higher or lower readings than others? Boring question, I know, but have always wondered how wide that range could be.... Thanks! B

More Power from a 1KZ TE

Still looking at this, and wondering if you think that installing a hood scoop would eliminate the heat soak aspect of a top mount? I don't love the idea of cutting into that hood, but given the ease of the install etc, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Thanks, GTSS!

    Intercooler kit for KZJ78

Hey Pal! I'm in neutral on this one... got the exhaust, egr delete and stereo all sorted, and now I need to figure this part out. All the info I'm getting says to do a front mount for access to cool clean air, but I don't like the way they look on the truck, and I do like the look of the hood...

More Power from a 1KZ TE

Thanks man, really appreciate the shared knowledge. I'm having a hard time finding a shop that is willing/able to take on this type of work, and also someone to give the truck a mechanical thorough inspection... compression, etc. Do you have a shop that you use for such things, or are you as...

More Power from a 1KZ TE

Good day, all knowing Brethren. So, I'm looking at ways of getting more power out of my KZJ78. I have installed a new exhaust, done the EGR delete, but with the larger tires (33's), I find the rig struggling a bit going up hills and maintaining 90-100 km/h. To do so, I see the EGT's creep up...

Builds KZJ78 Wide... Another Build Thread.

That's really tidy work there. Nice to see it hasn't affected your ability to have a winch, as that's something I'm looking to add in the new year. Repurposed intercooler from another vehicle, or did you buy something new?

Builds KZJ78 Wide... Another Build Thread.

Intercooler is next on the list. I'm still debating between a front mount or a top mount with a hood scoop. I'll likely be putting a bigger turbo on it to get more hp as I plan on buying a boat and a teardrop rv that the rig will tow around, so keeping it cool will be very important. Have you...

Builds KZJ78 Wide... Another Build Thread.

Going 100 on the flats it would fluctuate between 750 and 850, but it would climb quickly on the steep inclines, especially trying to maintain 90 km/h. Heavy load, steep highway hills... I guess the higher temps were to be expected.

Builds KZJ78 Wide... Another Build Thread.

Got the 3" exhaust installed this week, and I made the mistake of straight piping it. It's too damn loud. Going to take it to get a small resonator installed to quiet it down. I don't mind the rig making some noise... it's a diesel truck, but it's just too loud. On the plus side, it did make a...

    KZJ78 rear seat removal.

This was super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to put that together, and send it my way. I had a hard time committing to pulling those plastic guards off as I wasn't sure if they actual did pop off... would be a very hard piece of plastic to replace had it snapped. Knowing they did was a...

    KZJ78 rear seat removal.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, but, here I am, asking for help... How the hell do you get the rear seats out of a KZJ78? Is there an easy way with a lever or a button that I somehow can't find, or is it a fairly intensive process? Help!!!

70's series speakers... talk to me, Goose.

So, I found a guy that does this stuff for a shop full time, but also does some cash work on the side. He advised me that since my truck is surprisingly mint on the inside, that I should go the extra mile and take off the whole dash etc and do it clean to maintain the original look and use the...
