Drove the 40 up to 7,000' elevation yesterday. Runs perfect with the stock jets. Marshall, the dual reservoir master cylinder and 3 to 4 bolt adapter are from Mark's Off Road. Our 61 had a single reservoir with a 3 bolt pattern.
Replaced a 38 Weber with the THC carb .So far it starts and runs great. Have not checked the fuel mileage yet. We used a SOR spacer and cable with the threaded end ( have to cut the barrel off) Bought a nut and olive from the Toyota dealer. Mr. Gasket 1486 air cleaner (6 1/2"x2") and universal...
Running a 180 thermostat, 4-row radiator and 8-blade direct drive plastic fan from Mark's Off Road.[818 953-9230] Stays under 185 even in 100 plus outside temps.
The Holley Blue Pump is a high volume, high pressure pump for race applications. Even at 6 psi, we pulled our Edelbrock off three times to check and lower floats. Dropping below 4 psi solved the flooding problem. You might try a Facet 2-4 psi electric pump. Most auto parts have them.
Absolutely our cage [Heavy Duty Bow Kit] could be improved upon to suit each persons needs. Tie-In to frame,1" tube on corners of bows to tighten radius for better soft top fit and possibly a bend in the a-pillar upright. We solved our main objectives by not having to drill into the tub for the...
Used the SOR kit on my 61. (9mm) Changed 2 of the fittings to 10mm for the dual master cylinder that I upgraded to. Worked out great. I think they also sell fittings individually.
I have used a Carter 6 psi street pump with a Holley standard fuel pressure regulator to cut back to 4psi. Our Edelbrock also would not take higher fuel pressures.
Thanks for all the complements :D!! My dad, my mom, and my 3 sisters all helped build this. I drive it every day to my high school.
My parking spot.

SouthBoston, here are some more pictures. Yes the cage was made to mimic the OEM bows. We used the pictures with dimensions that you posted on this site (THANKS). Old hard top door pieces and 15 feet of c-channel that we had made were also used. Our top is a SOR(spectar off road) OEM top.
This is what we did to our '61. We bolted 3/16 inch plate to the hard top holes on tub, built a cage out of 1 1/2" tube, then used 3/16" flat bar on the top edge of the tub. We then drilled and bolted twist locks to the plate. It's not perfect but it works for us.
Thanks for the offers. We are leaning towards a soft top because of the difficulty in finding a complete hardtop. Hey Mark, how is my front axle rebuild going?
