It's pretty amazing how much the configuration changed going from the 1F to 2F engines. The only similarities appear to be we both have engines with accessories lol
samc2447,
I'd really like to see how this AC system is supposed to look when it's intact. Would you post a photo of your engine bay when you have a chance? It would really help me out.
Thanks,
Tom
Test fitting without the AC compressor and third crank pulley, the fan mounts and clears everything pretty well. The fan isn’t exactly centered in the steel fan shroud so it wants to touch at the top. If I hold the radiator up and snug the bolts, it rotates without rubbing the shroud. There’s...
Thanks for the affirmation. I’d considered the idea they may have used a clutch fan and clutch fan water pump, but If this was dealer installed, they wouldn’t have had the later clutch fan and water pump available at the time. There must’ve been a special shroud that came with this AC system to...
IIRC it’s the Ford equivalent to the LANDCRUISER filter, and I read somewhere long ago that the Motorcraft filters are better quality than standard fram, Bosch, etc.
I think the reason for those brackets is because the screws holding it from the inside are pulling through the plastic of the under Dash unit. Somebody put those brackets later in its life to hold it in
It had a third pulley on the crank. And since my first post I figured out the AISIN fan hit that third crank pulley too. I’m guessing that third crank pulley was for the compressor, probably a single pulley compressor. Both the compressor mounting bracket and pulley have Mapco stamps on them
Hi guys, I’ve never had much luck getting troubleshooting advice from @Trollhole, so I’m wondering if any of you guys have had this problem with a carb you bought from him. Fuel leaks over exhaust manifolds are never a good thing-
Hey Guys,
Looking for some assistance from the great minds of the collective. After I blew a heater core hose under the dash, I decided to replace all old, bad or incorrect pieces in the cooling system that I’ve been collecting, while I’m slowly putting the FJ55 engine bay as close to factory as...
Thanks Eric, I’ll PM you. When I bought the 55, it had a Holley/Offy setup that was dumping fuel all over the headers. Without a stock carb to rebuild I decided to buy the Trollhole carb and find a stock intake and air cleaner. Since then, I did end up acquiring what looks like a rebuildable...
I haven't chimed in because it's a long shot, but if by some miracle I get mine ready in time I'll be coming from SoCal.
The Short List:
Figure out why the Trollhole carb I installed is backfiring
Reseal the front axle and install front and rear LOKKA's
Change the pitman arm bushing
Go through...
If only Alcan was as close to me as Atlas. Since Atlas offers 55 springs, I’m hoping they have some experience with 55’s and can get these MAF’s dialed in.
