FWIW, if I had to do it again, I'd just keep the carb. It runs the same as a well tuned carb.

backfiring can be numerous things, mostly timing. Misfires can be from a bad plug, wire, cap, rotor, valve, compression, etc. What happens when you adjust the idle speed screw on the carb? IE NOT the idle mix screw.

yes, a bad ICS will make it impossible to tune. I can't see the video, but if it's idling "rough" it could also be miss firing which would give low vacuum numbers and be impossible to tune. Depending on idle speed, it will run with no ICS. It just needs a higher idle to bypass the idle...

Correct. And if you use a Corvette style fuel filter you don't need a return from the sniper to the tank.

as of 3/19/24 we've had plenty of rain and the salt is off the roads and the truck is fully insured. IF we get additional snow and they salt the roads I will under no circumstances allow for test drives no matter how short. I'm sorry but road salt is the devil and I hate it.
