Auxiliary tank without 2nd filler neck???

I recently noticed what appeared to be a cover plate behind the rear passenger wheel and fuel lines running behind the same side rear folding seat. My 1971 FJ40 only has the stock passenger side filler tube. To my novice eyes, the installation looked rather clean and appeared to have been done...

    1971 FJ

Good idea. Thanks for the offer to send pics. Feel free to post for others, but I've already reassembled the seat with foam, etc. If you post pics, do so on my other seat thread... I accidentally hit send prematurely on this one before I had a chance to add a title, etc. I don't know how to...

    1971 FJ 40 Seat Restoration

I made some patterns and did a practice run on some old black and green vinyl. Turned out alright... a few blunders. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to try it with my distressed leather I took off of a free Restoration Hardware sofa.

    1971 FJ 40 Seat Restoration

In the process of reupholstering my stock seats. After removing the torn covers, destroyed foam, and burlap, I discovered I had a busted spring beneath the driver's cushion. Since they are virtually unobtainium, I decided to take a spring from the middle seat cushion (far back) and transplant...

    Eastwood SCT for body work?

My son and I used the Eastwood SCT on a '56 Chevy recently. As you know, those vehicles also have large flat areas. We did not have any heat/warp issues. However, we made sure to keep it moving. We tried using the drum that came with it, but it was taking too long. We bought the more...

    Rough Idle then dies- Solved

Yeah, that's why I posted it and kept it short and sweet. I love when folks post such things and give the bullet points on what they tried and what eventually worked. The cruiser has been my maiden voyage into automotive mechanics... in other words I don't know what I'm doing! I figure if I...

Five years and finally on the road!

As previously mentioned on Mudd back in 2016, I purchased my 2/71 FJ40 from pretty much the original owner (he owned it since '73) after seeing it sitting on flat tires beneath a pepper tree. The owner was raking his front yard when I approached him and asked if he ever considered selling his...
