SOLD  Los Angeles, CA: 1999 Land Cruiser, 189K Miles

For sale - 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser with 189K miles. I bought in October 2017 from previous owner here in Los Angeles. It was a family vehicle and he towed a small Airstream. Off-road upgrades done by me (and sadly, barely used at all). Asking 13K. More pics available on the Craigslist posting...

FREE  Used 100 Series OME Nitrocharger Front and Rear Shocks

I've had these Old Man Emu Nitrocharger front and rear shocks on my 100 for 12K miles. Almost all of that 12K was on-road :-( They were stiffer than I wanted so I switched over to Tough Dog shocks. I'm happy to offer these OMEs who will pay for shipping. Model numbers are 60000 and 60002...

Did you decide on your lift yet @gregnash? I've still got my OME nitro chargers lying around... about 2 years and 18K miles on them, but not much trail time. If you want to try them out and pay for shipping, I'll send them to you.

Builds 60 guy does a 100 series LC...

This is helpful - thanks Greg. I was able to get the ring on the boot, but getting the combo over the ball joint lip was problematic... I think I ended up getting grease on the outside and it got too slippery to work on. Ah well, I'll try again.

I need to redo the boot I replaced as I'm pretty sure I stretched out the ring trying to get it on. Was wondering how others did it... you just pre-installed it and was able to work it into position?

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

I don't get off-road nearly enough. Crossing fingers for HIHX this year though. I'd go Tough Dog, all the way. Check out the Tough Dog review thread. Here are a few good quotes: @ga12r1: @gatormark91: @dirtdawg: @kelly saad:

Two reasons - I had a super-annoying chirp from one of the rear shocks. It'd go away for a day or two if I tightened the top nut, but that thing drove me crazy. Second, I found the OME shocks to be *really* harsh. I've only had them on for a couple of hours, but did fly over some speed bumps...

Switched out OME shocks for 41mm front and 45mm rear adjustable shocks from @TRAIL TAILOR. So far I love the new ride.

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Took off OME shocks and installed Tough Dog 41mm fronts and 45mm adjustable rears from @TRAIL TAILOR . Still have the OME 865 medium springs. So far so good. Fixed some crazy squeaking and a much less tooth-rattling ride. Hard to get a good shot of the rears installed.

Is that 10 mpg corrected for tire size? I get just over 11 when I’m doing mostly city driving (285/75R16, C rated, with 1.5” lift, ‘99). All highway it’s 16-17.

    Chirping Sound?

For future searchers... it was the top nut on my OME shocks. I tightened them a little and the sound is gone.
