    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

$3500 was just the head I believe. Machine shop had to replace the cam with a used one as it had a small crack in the end. Was already planning new valves, seats, springs, etc. so that went into the new head. So essentially everything new except a used but good cam.

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Hi LimitingFactor, I had this exact issue - ironically on a similar timeline (last fall till now). I was losing a steady but small amount of coolant with no external leaks. Did a Blackstone analysis and confirmed coolant contamination and did the combustion gas coolant test (radiator neck) and...

OEM Winch - Synthetic Winch Line, Fairlead?

Thanks for the info everyone - sounds like I need to consider mounting the Hawse style fairlead to the winch mount itself and not on the bumper sheet metal.

Hi everyone, I have an OEM winch but I'm still running the stock bumper (no cut out yet). Before I cut up my stock bumper for the winch opening I wanted to see if anyone has replaced the steel cable with synthetic winch line. My understanding is that I would need to replace the rollers with a...

OEM Factory Winch - Stock Bumper Modifications?

Hi Everyone, I recently picked up a complete and working OEM winch for my 80-series. Anyone have any photos of the stock bumper with cut-outs for the winch? Specifically, trying to get an idea of whether or not I need to cut an opening on the top of bumper to access the controls. Also, has...

Hi everyone, As the title suggests I'm in need of some engine work on my Lx450, specifically a short-block rebuild (bottom end, rings, head work, etc.). Anyone have shop recommendations around Vancouver, BC? I've reached out to Bond Mechanical in Burnaby and TorFab down in Washington State but...

    Mystery Coolant Loss

Hi everyone, I've had my 1997 Lx450 (280,000 km) for about 9 months now and over the last 3 months or so its developed a coolant loss that I can't trace. I'll top up the radiator and the overflow tank to the max fill line and after driving for a few hours and letting it cool completely I'm...
