I've got a leaky radiator and water pump on an '79 FJ40 with the original 2F. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can purchase the correct pump (what I'm seeing online doesn't look anything like my current pump) and a replacement radiator?
I've looked at the aluminum radiator from...
The lower latch on my ambulance door ('79 FJ40) some how sheered off from the piece that makes contact with the strike plate. If anyone has internals for the latch assembly, lets talk. Willing to buy what I need or replace the entire upper and lower internals if thats what it takes. TIA.
Not to thread jack, but I was considering replacing my OME shocks on my '79 with Bilstein 5100s. My question is where do I find the matching steering stabilizer shock? I've seen the Bilstein 5100 shock packages, but it only comes with the 4...
TN winters aren't extremely cold, but the '79 takes a bit of warming up to get it to a comfortable riding temp on most days from December-March.
My '79 has two threaded holes on either side of the removable floor panel behind the middle console. It also has a plug under the console. I assume...
Ya'll are great! It was indeed a relay. There were four 30a 12v relays under the hood and I was able to use one to test the two connected to the headlights. The local auto parts store had a couple. Low beams are back in business.
Could one of the relays gone bad (the one for the low beams)? I haven't seen any aftermarket fuses under the hood with the exception of the fuses for my Warn winch. Since the high beams work it wouldn't be one of the main tube fuses under the dash correct?
Are the relays specific or are they...
Hi/Lo adjustment is on the steering column. Below are images of the L and R headlight wiring. I assume the black plug hanging out on the driver side headlight is the original plug and the red plugs are spliced in upgrades. The guy I acquired the FJ from said the lights had been upgraded at some...
The ole '79 headlights were upgraded somewhere along the way. It looks like the connectors were upgraded/spliced in. They aren't an LED conversion, just a brighter version of the original.
The low beams recently stopped working all together. The headlight lenses look to be one unit (no low beam...
Appreciate the help! I did give the carb a little love. Purchased a rebuild kit and replaced a couple gaskets, accelerator pump plunger, etc. I still have a semi loose stud that cause a bit of an whining/air leak (will fix that eventually, but after installing the HEI and tinkering with some...
Stumbled upon this thread out of luck. I've got an OEM carb on my '79 that looks to have been rebuilt at some point. The accelerator pump isn't functioning correctly and I was going back and forth on what to do (rebuild, disassemble and tinker, etc.). Just pulled the trigger on the $100 amazon...
D.U.I. successfully installed. Now getting spark, but still not firing. Poured fuel into the carb with positive results (firing momentarily, but not running consistently), but the throttle pump (?) on the cab doesn't seem to be feeding fuel into the carb... Needless to say at this point it's a...
I searched the forum and came up with an answer for just about everything except exactly what I was looking for. Transmission covers, seat covers, etc... Looking for feedback on who sells the best weather proof/resistant vehicle cover for the FJ40 (I have a '79 if that matters)?
We don't have a...
Update.
Successfully jumped the coil by bypassing the resister on the firewall. Vehicle started but only momentarily. It looked like the resister was the problem because it was not getting enough voltage to the coil.
Replaced the resister, but in the process of putting everything together the...
