Huh. Well here's a video driving around. I can get 14 psi but I have to floor it and only above 3000 RPM Wastegate doesn't start opening until 12 ish PSI and is fully open at 19. EGTs are around 500-900 driving around.

There absolutely is a zener in there. I actually removed mine and the gauge was very acurate. I could see exactly when the thermostat opened up and see it regulary fluctuate throughout the drive. When you simply bypass the diode the needle reads higher. 205F was right about under the red mark.

Finally pulled the truck out of hibernation and did all the check ups. Drives how it always does, makes okay boost, higher EGTs (750-850F) and doesn't really go anywhere. I've just accepted at this point I will never figure out the problem and it'll always be just a city cruiser.

Yes there's an arm inside the pump that pushes on the rotary collar (forget what's it's called) and advances the timing.
