Hi all:

I have an original 2F engine from 1976 (FJ40) that came with my purchase of my '76 FJ40. 10,058 miles, and, as you can see from the photos, it is in excellent condition inside and out. Asking $5,000. Garth

I just circled back to this ad and realized that I might have sold this engine…almost 35 years ago! If it’s the same one, it would have been a low mileage JDM engine from a fire truck. The telltale signs are there. The most important one would be the mechanical tachometer mounted like a power steering pump. As a 2F replacement in an earlier truck, it would explain why there is a thermostat housing and distributor from an F135 engine. You will also note that the cylinder head has no injection ports, unlike all of its US brethren.

I wonder how it was stored for the last three decades?

It was stored in a barn along with the FJ40 up on a lift. When I got it with the truck it was wrapped up and on a crate with wheels, super clean. Maybe it was that one - I have no way of knowing. I got it from a guy up in Frazier Park, who got it from his friend's wife (his friend had died). It came with five other boxes of parts, mainly from Japan. Everything you can imagine for the FJ.
