2002 Toyota Land Cruiser – Well Maintained, Mechanically Excellent
Selling our 2002 Land Cruiser. It’s been very well cared for mechanically and is a great example of what matters most with these trucks: it runs beautifully, everything works, and a lot of the expensive maintenance has already been done.
Within the last year it had the timing belt, water pump and associated service completed, and it has nearly new tires with only about five months of use. It has been maintained by a specialist who knows these trucks extremely well, and mechanically it’s in excellent shape.
A/C blows cold (may need partial recharge every couple years), heat and electronics work as they should, and the factory sound system still sounds great. It also has an iPhone connection integrated into the back of the stereo, so you can plug your phone directly into the original system without having an aftermarket head unit stuck in the dash.
Cosmetically, it’s a 24-year-old Land Cruiser and I don’t want to pretend otherwise. There are some dings, scratches and normal wear, but nothing I would consider major. There are a few cracked plastic components on the passenger side rear (pictured). The tailgate took a hit from backing into a garage door; it works perfectly fine, but there are some drips if you go through a carwash. There is surface rust on the frame and some surface rust on the body, but this is not a truck that has been consumed by rust or has major structural corrosion. Overall it presents very well for its age.
Most importantly, this has been a dependable, properly maintained Land Cruiser (garage kept for many years) rather than a neglected truck dressed up for sale. It starts, drives and operates exactly as it should, and the major maintenance items you worry about when buying a 100 Series have been addressed.
