Has anyone done Cleghorn Trail lately? The :princess: and I are going to try and score a Yellow post site for Sat night and I wanted to do Cleghorn on our way up Sat morning. I have never done it but I have read it has a number of bypasses which is a good thing since we are rolling solo. Not that I am opposed to anyone joining us.

I ran it about 3-4 months ago. Fun trail. There are bypass around the obstacles but our 80s handle Cleghorn easily.

When are you running it?

I ran it in mid April. The group I was leading had a great mix of rigs from a street legal almost buggy to a stock 4 door rubicon, and a few lightly modded TJ's. The stock rubicon dod none of the bypasses. The TJ's without lockers did do the bypasses though. I have ran it without a lift and with, doing no bypasses. Great trail with good views. Well worth doing.

We are going to probably head out of SD around 7:00AM so be at Cajon Pass by 9:30 - 10:00 to start the trail Sat morning.

I might join you with some friends. Depending if I can wake up my 3 boys, dress them and feed them early

Mark, careful which yellow post site you choose... most will be taken by Saturday night (memorial weekend) and the Lytle Creek sites are all closed because of a wash out that occured in the last rainy season.

Haven't ran "CLEGHAMMER" in a long time, but i know parts of it were just graded by USFS so it should all be in tip top shape. The harder sections should be what you make of them as always.

I was up there 3 weeks ago an it was a great time! I skipped all of the bypasses and crept on through the heavy stuff. I definitely had some two wheel teeter totter moments but that is what makes it such an awesome trail.

Yeah, we are prepared to head back down if no Yellow post sites are available. We are going to try Kelar Mtn (not sure of exact name) because it is the closest off of Rim of the world hwy. if that's taken we will try the few that are back on the North side of BB Lake.

I think I will try to attend this also. 151.625 is not a ham freq. that is off-racing weatherman channel. I look forward to meeting some other Mud'ers!

Missed this one. Glad you guys had a good time. Got around to grinding my lower arms and went out to Cleghorn today. Ran it w/ TJ in his 80, some FJCs and a Taco. Sort of like a shake down to test my new shocks and caster plates. Suffered some driver side rear damage, resi on newly installed shock rubs bad, and 1 FJC on its side. Fun day!

I was going to ask you about this
What happened?
I hope no one got hurt.

To be honest, I am not sure exactly what happened. I left the group just before this. Did this...

After testing my shocks and lower arm clearance (ironman caster plates) on every obstacle prior to where the incident happened, I took fire road down becuase I did not want to damage anything. As I started to air up I got the news that my buddy Rob laid his rig on its side. The group lifted the rig back up. Driver is ok. Rig has driver side fender, door and rear tail light damage.

Damn turtles always ending up on their shells. I only kid because I'm assuming all are fine.

Where did you mess up your rig on the trail. I remember two areas where I was an inch from a wall on the DS. My technique is to get right up to is and try to drive away from it rather then staying high and possibly sliding into it.

It was my bad. The trail was crowded yesterday. I was following TJ up through the rock garden section and did exactly what you described. Slid into it.
