My 315 sized spare on my Kaymar swing-out rear bumper almost completely obscures my license plate... So I made a new plate mount with light.

nice. seriously beefy.
Do you have to remove the plate to get to the spare tire nuts?
What do you plan to do about the light and the pesky wiring if you don't go with batteries.
(Anybody knows of a good battery-operated license plate light? I need one.)

WHAT IS THAT THING IN PIC 5? :). Thats awsome, how much is that lock and wear do I get 1?

Light will be hard wired to 12VDC. I will install a weatherpak connector inline to allow for quick disconnection.

Yes plate has to be removed to remove spare tire. Plate assy. is held one with a single 1/4x20 bolt for easy removal. (See pics) I may install some kind of wing nut/bolt to make it tool-less.

The joys of plasma cutter ownership.

1st design improvement. I did not like the way the first license plate lamp mounted nor the fact it did not have a ground wire but grounded through its physical mounting. I like this lamp much better. Light is directed down over license plate.

Here is the coupling I'm putting inline to quickly disconnect the light when necessary.

When I installed my second swing arm which included a new license plate bracket and light.. I simply pulled the factory wire out from the bottom of the tailgate and pulled it through the back of the body and wired it to the new light and replaced the bulbs with LED bulbs

Looking forward to seeing the finished project
