Hi to all!! This is our ( my son and I) first post of our first project.:D It turned out to be more work then expected; yet was fun. We decided to go with Sears Die Hard because well we have always had great luck with this battery. We opted for the 935 CCA Platinum series (GEL) battery. Unfortunately, that meant some problems. Mainly the battery is considerably shorter and the terminals are reversed so some minor fabrication and alteration was necessary. Overall we are happy with the result; she cranks over really well now! We've made up some pics detailing the project. (Hope this works:)

Nice first write up and you will never regret having longer battery cables.

Welcome:flipoff2:

Nice first project and fantastic documentation. We have the platinum batteries too and they are excellent. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects.
Cheers.

Thanks, Did we post this correctly? Seems different then the other posts:confused: Is there a way to keep track of the post or be notified if there is a question or comment?

Click on your (usercp) at the top of the page right below the red Toyota tech button. Where you can change passwords, edit yous signature, etc.

I also have the platinums. You can buy the battery with the posts on the other side and not have to modify your cables, I would infact recommend changing it because I would be concerned about the positive post being near the frame. Thats the battery I would use for the dual based on the way the posts are oriented

Well, thats an eye opener! Asked about that at Sears and was told this is the only
configuration available?? Is the battery you have also taller; does it match the original oem battery dimensions?

I checked ours. I have a 35 series on the driver's side and a 34 series on the passenger side. Positive terminals are closest to engine on either side.

What he said. I believe the group 35 comes in both terminaal configuartions. You have longer cables that would fit, I would go back to sears and give them an earful and get a Group 35. You will likely be fine with what you have, but if your bracket comes loose and it bumps the frame, you short out your system. Whereas it wont in the other direction

Well in retrospect he, the man at Sears, did give good information, we just didn't want to give up the 190CCA. We are planning to isolate the + terminal and maybe even add a strategic plastic shroud bolted to those the two bolts currently holding the tray. Thanks for the prudent foresight. This back and forth is what makes this forum so great!!
