My thread was deleted ... but I just wanted to mention that the Kenwood DNX9140 fit the bill.
It is a Garmin based NAV and it allows the use of TOPO Maps.
From what I can tell, it will allow you to use either Nat Geo or Garmin TOPO Maps.
Also, it has a "Breadcrumb" or "Plotting" feature they call "Tracklog" which allows you to record and store up to 4 trails. This is useful for me when I venture off road. I can record my trail on the way in ... so I can find my out after.
Just thought some folks might like to have this sort of info.
