I had been looking for a brown SR5 center console to match my 85 4Runner interior for some time without luck. I did find a blue one and went off on a quest to try to find an exact match in brown vinyl/plastic paint/dye to change the blue to brown. I started a thread on the subject but didn't get very far:

Well Garrett (GRM) came to my rescue and sold me a brown SR5 console out of a pickup that was in very good shape except for the vinyl top.
On ebay there is a guy who advertises "gaiters" (shifter boots) and center console covers in leather for all kinds of vehicles including Gen1 4Runners. I thought I might as well give it a shot. The guy is actually located in England (where I currently live most of the year) so I ordered one in what is affectionately known as baby poo brown for this console. Upon arrival, I thought the color was off but I mailed it to the US anyway to have someone try it on the console.
As you can see from the first pic it was not the right color. I then had the new cover and the old one sent back and I sent both of these to the ebay man. Well it took him a few weeks but he was able to order the exact brown and didn't charge me any extra. You can see from the second photo that he absolutely nailed the color.
I wouldn't normally do someone's advertising for them in Mud Tech but this guy did a great job. I know there are quite a few of us with this color brown in our interiors so if you want to upgrade your shifter boot and/or console cover then this is the guy that can supply the material. I'm not sure what you would tell him other than maybe it's the same brown that he supplied to fzj80guy (my ebay moniker). Here is a link to his ebay store:

Btw, the shifter boot is still available from Toyota at a reasonable price but it's vinyl and it's black. I have a new one that I installed last year but I may get this guy to make me a brown one out of leather just to try.
