Can I take some pictures of your FJ62 wiring harness?

I'm struggling, and need some help. I'm in the process of tossing an '88 fj62 3fe into my fj40, and am just starting on the wiring harness. I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, as 1) the harness is not complete, 2) the engine is not complete (or may be a different year than the harness), and 3) I've never worked on an fj62.

Thus, I don't recognize half of the connectors. The FSM is helping, but I think a few good photos will help clear up alot of questions.

Does someone in orange county, ca have an fj62 I can take pictures of? Its better if the interior is pulled apart, but pictures of the under hood connectors will be will worth a trip.

Help!

Thanks.

It amazes me how many wires my 60 has, even though there's just not much electrical on the dang thing.

i currently have taken the body off/ entire wiring harness out of my 89 fj62. Have everything plugged in and sitting on top of the motor. let me know what i can do to help. 860-368-8802 -Ben

Keep in mind the majority goes to power windows, mirrors, rear window heat, door sensors to turn lights on, speakers.... that you prob wont need. I am contemplating just stripping mine down to engine sensors/ ecu. Then splicing in to my 60.

The cowl harness has EFI connectors for:

• ECU (1)
• Engine harness
• Air flow meter
• Ignitor
• Main relay
• Circuit open relay
• Vacuum switching valves (3: AI, EGR, fuel regulator)

Plus, it has wires for:
• EFI Fuse (R-Y)
• Ignition Fuse (B-L)
• Speed sensor (G-B)
• Start switch (B-W) (splice to B-R)
• 4WD switch (Y-B)
• Brake light switch (G-W)
• Ground (BR)
• A\C (B-W)
• Check engine light (Y-G, Y-W?)

anyone,
what is the large yellow connector front forward in the above photo? where does it connect in the engine bay? I have 89 with newly installed used 88 engine.
thanks all

Frank

FYI, the engine wiring harness for the 88 fj62 is different from the 89 fj62. I am working on the differences now with the help of the local dealership. Will post the results.

There was only one connector I found that was different between the two. The 1989 harness used one plug while the 1988 used two. They pin out:

1989 connector vs. 1988 connectors:
• From: Ignition-Starter (neutral start switch) (B-R)
• From: Ignition Fuse (B-L)
• From: EFI main relay (Y-R)
• To: Tachometer (B)
• To: Fuel Pump (R-G)
• To: Water temperature gauge (G)
• Bridge: AFM to TPS (G-R)

First pic is the connector from 1989
Second and third pics are from 1988.

They both functionally do the same thing. They connect the engine harness to the cowl harness. The 1989 harness was still available from the dealer. The 1988 was not.

Garrett,

I have an engine and harness from an 89 FJ62 3FE that I am going through now. I can take some pics and post them. I am still working on identifying each connector.
